Can anyone tell me what this book is about? I was too young when it came out to really know what was going on in the world.

he exposed the LSU BOD for the political machine that it is and it ended up costing him his job.

Bob was years ahead of his time and everything he wanted to do back then LSU has just got around to doing, and everything he says in the book, happened just as it happened.
LSU messed up and took Joe "I want spend the money for a real coach" Dean after getting rid of Bob.

Bob was wrong only on one thing, doing away with Stovall one year to soon.

So what specifically did these cronies on the board do? Why was it in their best interest to not hire a big time coach and put big time money into the athletic programs?

you should really just read the book, i dont think anybody's summary could do it justice. Every LSU fan should read it.

I'll probably do that. I see it's going for around 15 bucks online.

Do people in hindsight all side with Brodhead or do some people think he was the crony?

   What kind of search did you do??? 15 bucks??

If you are in BR ck and see if the book warehouse on fla blvd at cora is still open. They are/were in a closing for good mode and had everything on sale. Sacked was one of MANY stacks of books that they were giving away, free of charge. There were stacks and stacks of the book for anyone who wanted one. I was in there 2 weeks before Katrina kit and picked up some other books since I had bought and read sacked when it was first released.

If they are closed ck amazon, they have em used for a buck 92

Back when Brodhead had the afternoon radio show after leaving LSU, I used to enjoy his views on the "business" of college sports. Like him or not, the guy knew that side of athletics.

I just saw that book in Dallas and my friend bought it. He was vehemently hated by some and loved by others.

Some say he paved the way for what proved to be the future success for LSU athletics such as leading the way for the hiring of Saban, etc.
    I don't know.

Is Broadhead still alive? I thought I read somewhere that he died recently.
