Gotta love his frankness . . . http://video-embed.al.com/services/player/bcpid618568022001?bclid=0&bctid=1824866234001
I think it was awesome... But I thought all coaches and players say "We dont read the papers or watch ESPN, so I have no idea about what people write" My favorite was the very end "I didnt mean to intimidate y'all today but.. Well I had to take it out on somebody"
With all due to Nicky, I don't feel like doing the research....what was said or written that set him off?
He doesn't like the fact that the media is already penciling-in Bama into the national championship game as well as apparently not giving too much respect to their upcoming opponent, Western Kentucky. Seems to stem from the fact that the players weren't practicing up to his expectations and he thinks all of the press is getting to their heads. I've always admired Saban's work ethic, focus and attention to detail but he's operating on an entirely different level, seemingly from some deep seeded demons. Obviously makes for one hell of a college football coach but dude is going to die young if he doesn't chill out.
I've always liked that about him; never takes anything for granted. At times, I've felt like this years LSU team could use some of that, based off of some of their comments leading up to the season. I've thought this at times, as well. He's such a control freak, and is the most high-strung emm-effer out there. He has to be stressed out in order to be happy, and that style of coaching can't sustain itself over the long haul.
Our team could have used some of that attitude going into the BCSNG game last year...but since he is a control freak, he struggles with in-game adjustments.
Saban is 10 steps ahead of everyone here including the media. Check it: He basically gave the media the excuse for a sub-par performance and thus, yields a freebee on the lucrative eyeball ranking test. The media watches the game, sees less than 100% effort, and calks it up to their miss-doing just as Saban had predicted. We all just got served.
