Texas 13 Nebraska 12 Texas 21 Alabama 37 Pelini's defense held Texas led McCoy to 13 points, and sacked McCoy 9 times. The Almighty Defense Guru who walks on water gave up 21 to Texas (14 to a true freshman), and sacked Gilbert once. So I stand by my statement, Pelini was as much of the coaching brains as anyone on the 07 team
Obviously, you weren't in front of any TVs, or at any games in '07 either...at least any after the halfway point of the season. That was the year LSU gave up +50 a couple of times, losing to subpar teams because of it. That was the year LSU gave up a ton to Bama, as well...also a subpar team at the time. Kind of ironic, really. If not for the amazing offense (under Crowton), LSU would've lost 4 that year most likely. - And yes, Pelini was the one people were beaching about in '07.
no. 50 pts once. ppg was 19.9 for season for #17 nationally, but subtract the 6 OTs and its 17.2 ppg and #7.
What was the other? 48? Who cares? Bottom line, take out the first 5-6 games, and you'll have my point...which I clearly stated in my post, that past the HALFWAY point of the season, people were WISHING Pelini would go. Now all of the sudden, he's the best thing since kayak redfishing. FWIW, I love the guy too...and wish he hadn't left. BUT, it's funny to see people tooting his horn after he was blasted in his last season at LSU. People beached that we didn't blitz enough...weren't aggressive enough.
Enjoy your parade you deserve it, just remember you will have no less than at least 5 teams, 3 of which could have beaten you this yr, that will bring out all stops to make sure that Bama doesn't repeat. Bank on it.
