Saban reminded me last night why I've never liked him as a coach

With 1:40 to go after stopping LSU on 3rd down he doesn't call TO to stop the clock. LSU punts and Bama gets the ball with :50 seconds to go instead of 1:35. Then in true Saban fashion he plays for overtime.

Instead of playing to win, he played not to lose and lost. To go along with Reid's pick and Wing's punt, this was huge in LSU's victory last night.

Thanks Nick for still being the conservative dumbass you've always been.

Thought the same thing. When he didn't call timeout on the punt I posted in the chat room that I would welcome a FG kicking contest with those guys.

    I agree.

    Saban blinked.

Great point. IIRC, they had 2 TOs remaining at the time, correct? Strange. Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt (impossible stretch), he didn't want McCarron to make a mistake and give LSU a very short field with a possible last second FG.

I submit the premise that Coach Miles is superior to Saban. To support my thesis, I present the fact that Miles is 3-2 vs. Saban AND has won two in a row.

I invite the Alabama Faithful of this board, who are always here motivated only by the spirit of Pure Sportsmanship, and never out of arrogance and a mis-placed sense of superiority, to refute my thesis.

Both coaches played it conservatively, looking to win it in OT. That said, Ive always thought Saban was a bit too conservative. In both his championships conservative play nearly lost it and had the games a bit closer than they should have been.

I wonder how many years Saban has left. He is 60 years old. I don't see him pulling a Paterno or Bowden. He strikes me more as an intense Urban Meyer type. I doubt he'll coach past 65. What do you guys think?

Regardless, by this point Miles has proven he can more than hold his own. :miles:

The meter is running on his stay in Bama. They were calling for his head last night, thus the closing of the Bama board to LSU fans.
