If we did not already have a great coach, I would take Saban back in a heartbeat. I have heard from some people that are still close with Saban & it is very true that both he & Terry still love Baton Rouge, still has many friends in Baton Rouge, and given the choice, they would have returned to LSU as well. I guarantee that Saban regrets leaving LSU. That is evidenced by how quickly he left the NFL. The fact that he went to Bama was just by chance of that job being open. Had there been an opening at Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Texas, etc, he would have gone there.
Wrong. That's hearsay and there's a reason it's not allowed in court. Even if we DID accept that as truth, them continuing to love BR does not = greater loyalty to. Saban's loyalty is to himself. Even still, what I said was that there was no way knowing that from reading the article since it was not Saban's words, rather, Jonathan Fravel's. Try to keep in mind that this isn't the beauty shop. We don't just say things like that for the sake of gossip *cough* discussion. capiche?
Tiga, I will now accept yet another compliment that I was right and you were wrong (AGAIN):hihi: Edit...due to unforeseen circumstances you now only owe me one compliment. On the board. :hihi:
I'm saying that Saban would come back to BR for less money & most people who say that he wouldn't are clouded by an unnecessary hatred for him.
Good thing this is not a court of law & just a message board. I trust my sources as they are the kind of people who have the kind of pull in the athletic department that few have. The fact that you want to call it hearsay is fine. You can believe whatever you want. I'm pretty confident in my statement.
If miles left for the NFL, in my opinion, saban wouldn't return to lsu. He already has been in the pressure cooker created by going from one sec team to their greatest rival. I don't think he leaves bama for another sec team, lsu or any other. If he leaves bama, I think he retires from bama, he will go out of conference. I would think to a team that has sentimental value to him. That's just what I think. Imagine the contraversy created by him leaving bama and returning to lsu. The lsu fanbase despises him now and bama would tear down his statue. He wouldn't put his family through the tourmoil. He's 60 years old. You think a 60 year old man wants to deal with that kind of crap. I don't think so. Saban retires at bama or picks up and heads north, closer to home.
