Bama extended Nick Saban's contract but, according to the article, "it has less teeth than the front row at Neyland Stadium". Paul Finebaum criticizes the contract and warns that Saban has walked out on contracts at Miami, LSU, and Michigan State before. He suggests that they may have to rename Bryant-Denny stadium Nick Saban stadium in order to completely cave in to Saban to make him happy. He says it seems to be the University of Nick Saban because he made the University appeal the NCAA sanctions when the school didn't want to. He also criticizes the president of the University for giving a ringing endorsement of AD Mal Moore in spite of the textbook scandal. Predictably the Bammers are raking Finebaum over the coals for hinting at criticism of Saban publically. Tebow may be superman but Saban is a god. Just wait till there's an NCAA violation, or he gets hit with some more vacated wins and Saban walks to Penn State. Five years is a long time. finebaum may be a major prick, but ya gotta love it when he manages to piss of both bama and ut fans at the same time. :hihi:
Wait, didn't LSU fans like Saban when he was at LSU? I think I remember that. 10 years before Saban, what did LSU have? 1990-1999 (3 coaches): 54 total wins. 2000-2004 (Nick Saban): 56 totals wins. Thanks to Nick Saban, LSU could bring in another good coach. 2005-2008 (Les Miles): 52 total wins.
Absolutely. And you will continue to like him, until he announces how committed he is to 'Bama, how happy he is at 'Bama, and then takes off for greener pastures as soon as the words are out of his mouth. He did it to Mich. State, he did it to us, he did it to the Dolphins. Strong evidence that he is likely to do it again. Which of course, is Finebaum's point; why give the guy everything he asks without taking steps to make sure he can't leave you in the lurch?
Kid, good luck finding a group of Tiger fans that do not appreciate his presence while in P&G. For the good times, Thanks Saban. Saban was no more a Bear Bryant to us then to Bama today. When Saban is in bronze, holla! Try this kid; Bear Bryant, 3 years in leaves Bama for the Raiders, falls out of love with Big Al and decides, oh say Auburn or even ole sis. Would there be a bronze replica? Thanks for understanding kid. The disdain for Sabin's days in crimson is due in part to his abilities, the rest is pure dislike for all that is Alabama football. Can't that just be enough for you guys? :tigereye:
I think he's a great coach. I don't think he's a saint. He's at Alabama so I'll give him a chance. 3rd year and so far he's doing good.
