    2011 LSU Tigers SEC Champs !! 13 -0 :hihi:

    2007 - LSU wins - 41 - 34 @ Bama

    2008 - Bama wins - 27 - 21 @ LSU OT

    2009 - Bama wins - 24 - 15 @ Bama

    2010 - LSU wins - 24 - 21 @ LSU

    2011 - LSU wins - 9 - 6 @ Bama OT

1st point - we can expect a close game !

As we move into the re-match hype of this game I would like Tigers fans to think about just a couple of points.

    - As a Tiger we all know this is the best Tiger team we have ever watched through the years. It is hard for me to believe that the best Tiger team I have ever seen take the field will lose it's last game.

    - Think about how huge an advantage LSU has over Bama in Speacial Teams, our kicking game gives us a great advantage over Bama in any tight game.

If you think about trading what we have at any level for what Bama has just look at how it breaks down.

Coaching Staff - a push - both staffs are amazing

    ST's - huge to LSU

    O - side

    OL - push

RB - edge to #3 but I like our RB's as a group - but I do give the edge to #3 - Trent is one of the amazing backs to play in the SEC

WR - LSU - no question

QB - this is a tough call on not knowing what JJ will show up - Cotton Bowl JJ I give it to LSU - SEC CG JJ I give it to Bama

    D - side

    DL - LSU

LB's - huge edge to Bama

DB's - no question LSU - this could be the best DB group in the history of college football

Who has the faster team ? LSU

Who gets the advantage on turf and playing inside - LSU

Who gets the advantage of playing in New Orleans - LSU

I know I am a homer and I have purple blood but the way I am breaking it down it is all LSU. This is not throwing in how Nick does in bowl games vs how Les has handled bowl games. Just so you know Les has the best Bowl record of any active coach.

If you are a Bama fan - I am waiting - tell me at what point I am wrong !

LSU has scored 500 pts in 13 games = 38 pts per game

LSU D has allowed 137 pts in 13 games = 10 pts per game

not bad - not bad at all

Tappy will be here shortly to tell you where you are wrong and how Bama has LSU beat at every position... And there's no way LSU can win.

Bama will play a more assignment based defense to try and contain the qb keeper. Saban knows that jj burnt him in the past and an over pursuing defense is subject to be burnt. The bama defense will attempt to contain the edge and keep ford from turning it up the sideline. This can be their downfall. With their preoccupation with not allowing the corner to be turned, big Hilliard may be able to gut them up the middle.
Lsu must make bama run their big men from one side to the other all game. Wear them down. Confuse them with misdirection and motion. This will be the key to victory on offense. The only way we will be able to throw the ball will be off of play action. If the running game is working we may have success. This all depends on qb passing effecientcy.

On defense we must contain the pass to #3. We know we can stop him running well enough to win. We must stop him from catching the short pass and getting yards after catch. If we can do that we stop their offense.

Excellent review. One thing we must do is continue to run the ball even if stopped at first. Both teams will be fresh which will lessen our depth advantage. Also as noted Saban will have his D better prepared for the option as we should be better prepared for #3 on the wheel route. It is developing wrinkles on what was done Nov 5 that will decide the game,
This is where LSU has a big advantage IMO. Les has had his teams prepared better when given time than any coach. His only bowl loss was when the field was mush negating our speed in the Capital One Bowl, something he had no control over. I don't know what it will be but The Hat will have it ready to use at the right time. ANother thing to our advantage is the ability of the coaches to develop and the team to implement in game adjustments. That is our strong point and Bamas weakness. Saban prepares well but has never been nimble in making adjustments.
When two teams are as evenly matched physically as these are the little things become large. The points above plus our large ST advantage will bring us another BCSNC.

This game will be over late in the 3rd qiarter

This game wil not have an Overtime . We will know the winner late in the 3rd quarter .

If Lsu can stop the bama rush and keep them off JJ we will win . If bama gets to JJ we lose

this game will not be about JJ passing the ball

this game will be about turn overs and key plays

If we can run the ball on 1st down we win the game !

That is only one of many items that will allow LSU to win the game.

On a side note: attention mr gump lurker, Brett is allowing spirited discussion on the sidelines forum. You can go there and talk chit where you can't do it in the den. Brett didn't say that but I've seen some heated debate allowed there. I am looking forward to mr. 14 returning to the thread he started. Ramah biteooch slappin gumps cracks me up. I don't know if you've seen that your thread was moved there. Now you know. Please return to your thread. I am looking forward to it. Sorry for the derail. Just throwing out some bait. Thanks.

What makes you think we will be better prepared for the wheel route or bump and out screen??

I was trumpeting the call to shut down those little gigs before Nov. 5th. I was ridiculed, with comments like, I"m sure Chavis has film. ... well .. apprently he didn't watch them.

I'm cautiously optomistic that LSU can pull this off the second time. Last time Lee was the starting QB, and Bama prepared for Lee, which allowed JJ to ... well .. to at least not turn the ball over, and to muster up one scoring drive. This time around, they only have one QB to prepare for ... JJ. [unless they throw Mett in there .. now that'd be a hoot]

But .. as with last game, will be for this game. LSU's defense will have to win this game for LSU. Like take 1, take 2 will be a low scoring affair. If we can squeak out a FG or two and hold them to fewer FGs, we can win it. To be sure, the win will come late in the fourth quarter. .. this is where our Defensive Depth plays it's biggest role.
