Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis I trust Pelini's evaluation of a DB prospect as much as I trust Saban's. That says a lot, but Beaux knows defense.
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis I heard after Boise St. beat Okla. that Boise had a lot of 3 and 2 star players. They thought they had been missed in the evaluation services and they were 2's they felt were 3's. Then they developed em.
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis Well, if they went to Boise St, they probably weren't heavily recruited by other schools. Coaches at big programs aren't perfect evaluaters, but recruiting services usually put a lot of stock into who they do & do not offer. Winning games is about more than just "NFL talent". What I mean by that is, maybe a kid doesn't have the measurables to be a high draft pick (which big time college coaches pay a lot of attention to because high draft picks = exposure), but that doesn't mean he can't be a really good college player. Hester is a good example of that for LSU. He won't do much on the next level, but he's been great for us.
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis Straight up Parso. I'm borrowing here but consider the following: Take a look at the top 20 rushers in cfb from last season. How many of these kids signings elicited campus-wide pandemonium, would you think? Garrett Wolfe, Northern Ill. 13 309 1928 18 6.24 148.31 2. Ian Johnson, Boise St. 12 276 1714 25 6.21 142.83 3. Ray Rice, Rutgers 13 335 1794 20 5.36 138.00 4. Steve Slaton, West Virginia 13 248 1744 16 7.03 134.15 5. Ahmad Bradshaw, Marshall 12 249 1523 19 6.12 126.92 6. Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis Rivals rankings came out & Rocky is a 3 star (as well as the rest of our non 4 star recruits), and a 5.6 rating, which is about middle of the pack for a 3 star.
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis I'm don't think this list tells me much. Or, it tells me some of those guys don't face great defenses week in and week out. I'd take McFadden in a heartbeat and never look back.
Rocky Duplessis Rocky will be a Beast this year, I can see him adding a Star his Senior season. His highlights are impressive, but his FL Nike camp was a eye opener. He's only going to get faster, and stronger this year. He's got that nose for the football, always in the right position.
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis 40 times are nice and do represent a player's top-end speed, but honestly, how many plays strictly cover STRAIGHT 40-yards and without a player having to make a cutback???[/quote] Unless it's landry, coming on a blitz vs Bama.
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis Here's Duplessis shutting down Melvin Ray, Bama's top WR recruit, on 3 of 4 plays: http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/video.asp?section=fbrecruit&vidtype=amp&vidid=2745
Re: New Commit: S Rocky Duplessis Duplessis looked good but he didnt shut that guy down on 3 of 4 plays.
