Re: Ray Ray Armstrong I wasn't aware Miami had such high standards. I still think of it as Thug U. Are you saying that they will qualify at LSU and not at Miami, similar to how Loadholt qualified at Oklahoma and not at LSU?
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong Correct, Miami is a private school with student athlete academic standards significantly higher than the minimums set by the NCAA and ACC.
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong I knew they were a private school, but just didn't think their standards could be that high. They aren't ranked that high in U.S. News and World Reports for top colleges and judging by some of the football players they have had in the past I didn't think it was that difficult to get in. Keep in mind that athletes have the lowest entrance standards of all students on average. I guess you can't judge a book by its cover, underneath the camouflaged jackets, I'm sure they're a bunch of Rhodes Scholars.
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong They are ranked as high as Tulane: According to the 2009 US News best universities rankings: #51 University of Miami (37.8% acceptance rate) #51 Tulane (44.4% acceptance rate) #66 Southern Methodist University (50.1% acceptance rate) #76 Baylor (44.0% acceptance rate) #113 Texas Christian University (48.9% acceptance rate) #130 LSU (72.8% acceptance rate) http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/college/national-search/page+3 Miami's tuition is $35,000/year.
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong Tulane dropped. They have been around 43 for a few years. Katrina hurt them. I can also tell you that Tulane's acceptance rate is much lower than that now. They had over 30,000 apply last semester. They stopped accepting applications early in fact because of the large numbers. But enough about Tulane, Miami's loss is our gain.
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong One thing to keep in mind about Armstrong is he could be a potential candidate for the TE position (perfect size for it). I think this is the decided advantage of landing Armstrong vs. Myles.
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong Great all around athlete. Will definitely play safety. Nowhere near the size to play LB or TE at this point, as was previously stated.
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong islstl, at 6'4 220, it would seem a bit of a stretch to say he has nowhere near the size to play LB, are you saying he doesn't have the build for it? is he too lean?
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong maybe his stats are a bit inflated, I saw 6'2" 200 lbs myself when I watched that game
Re: Ray Ray Armstrong Here are some videos, I couldn't really say what he his measurments are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yzdto3zFycE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeTJOWbBlJk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNEtZZooOG4
