Speaking of Steltz. I saw him today going into the Walmart on college drive. He looked to be in great shape.
my bad, I misread your post I don't buy into the top flight blue chip safety anyway, becuase I don't buy into the rating system used by the online scouts. If a kid can play he can play, and this kid can play as well as any 5* safety..he can also flop as easily as any 5* safety.
That means he'd have to have a 2.875 or higher gpa on his core courses, which he does. Most of these kids do not report their writing section of the SAT because it is not factored...if that is his combined verbal, math, and writing score then wow.
He’s being recruited by D.J. McCarthy and has mentioned (In reference to us) “The safety that they put in the NFL” Alabama and South Carolina, also are hot on his trail but sounds like he’s big on LSU and South Carolina. Also has offers from Auburn, Minnesota and Wisconsin, but hasn’t been in very close contact with them.
Of all his choices, he had every program listed as Medium and has narrowed it down to a "Top three": It's Notre Dame, LSU and Michigan. Here's the twist, of the three, he’s only visited ND for their spring game with definite plans to visit LSU and hoping to visit Michigan- but wants to announce before official visits can be taken- which sounds strange to me- maybe you or vball could shed some light on that, or is it a case of a kid just wanting to get it behind him. Nevertheless, since he’s looking to commit early, may be an advantage for us should he not make it to Michigan. Only thing that worries me is him changing his mind later if someone gives him what I'd consider sound advice- "Take your visits.....take your time". As a fan, I like early commits but as a parent, would encourage going through the process thoroughly and making sure. I've watched some film on him- he's a hittin sumb beyotch with great closing speed, takes good angles and good hands- picks of the ball with ease in traffic, batted balls, etc.
I remember a lot of recruits that commit to a school and still take other official visits. Miles has never been a big supporter of this behavior though. Pretty much lets them know if they can still shop, so can LSU.
