Re: New Commit: S Josh Johns Jan 16 article from the Advocate: --Johns' grandfather, Chuck Johns, played halfback for LSU in the mid-1950s. “We’ve been die-hard LSU fans all his life,” said Josh’s father, Doug Johns. --Central coach Sid Edwards compared Johns to Jack Hunt and Jacob Hester, high-character players who helped LSU win championships. “I think when the book is written, you’ll see that Josh belongs,” Edwards said. “The only thing that separates him from some other people out there are a couple of stars on a Web site.” http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/37703899.html?showAll=y&c=y
Re: New Commit: S Josh Johns Johns said his dream has always been to play for the Fightin' Tigers of LSU: "I always wanted to play at LSU, it was always my dream and nothing could compare to that." http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=5940
Re: New Commit: S Josh Johns TigerRag: --Both Cooper and Chavis were impressed with Johns. --Johns was a die-hard LSU fan growing up and that will mean a lot for the LSU locker room. It is nice to have 5-star guys, but sometimes that does not do much for a team that is in search for leadership. And in college football, leadership is vital. Johns appears to be the type of player that would give all of himself for the betterment of the team. In fact, Johns already has. He agreed to grayshirt if that was what it was going to take to become a Tiger. Many other recruits would have looked the other way. http://blog.nola.com/tigerrag/2009/01/tigers_get_another_one.html
Re: New Commit: S Josh Johns I like these quotes the best. You gotta have a Hester type on your team to win a NC.
Re: New Commit: S Josh Johns My dream has always been to just run on the field, through the band, with the team before one of the games. I'm not kidding!!
Re: New Commit: S Josh Johns Up from a Rivals 2-star to a Rivals 3-star Compare to some other Rivals 3-star safeties who have gone to on to be taken in the NFL Draft: S Brandon Merriweather of Miami (2002 recruiting class): Rivals 3-star 1st Round Draft Pick, 2007 Draft S Bernard Pollard of Purdue (2003 recruiting class) Rivals 3-star 2nd Round Draft Pick, 2006 Draft S Anthony Smith of Syracuse (2002 recruiting class): Rivals 3-star 3rd Round Draft Pick, 2006 Draft S Aaron Rouse of VT (2002 recruiting class): Rivals 3-star 3rd Round Draft Pick, 2007 Draft S Dashon Goldson of Washigton (2002 recruiting class): Rivals 3-star 4th Round Draft Pick, 2007 Draft S Josh Gattis of Wake Forest (2002 recruiting class): Rivals 3-star 5th Round Draft Pick, 2007 Draft S Kareem Moore of Ole Miss/Nicholls State (2003 recruiting class) Rivals 3-star 6th Round Draft Pick, 2008 Draft
Most likely. I assume the only way we had out a greyshirt this year is if someone from this class does not qualify.
Looking more and more like he will have a full offer according to what the coaches are telling him. Said he is coming in as a Safety as of now but he is up to 210lbs. If he gets any bigger the coaches said they may move him to OLB.
