I agree that this is a voluntary program for the time being however in Colorado they now have raised summer rates on anyone who uses more than 500 Killo Watt hours per month.
Last year the utilities were constantly running radio commercials about this program and yet I have not heard on commercial this year.
Instead it seems to me that they raised the rates.
The utilities commission is part of the government.
How can you be so confident with this president and congress in control?
They are ruled against and they keep pushing their agenda no matter what.
I know this was a while back but the argument between the environmental actor activist and the news anchor has left a lasting impression with me while these people are in power.
I should have clarified better, hand guns have been banned in various cities across the country.
You don't deny that some of the Democrat agenda is to ban guns?
All you have to do is listen to some of their arguments against.
Yes, well it is the point of Democrats or politicians knowing what is best for you and taking away your freedom to choose.
Are you denying the comments of Senator Dingle?
I might have stretched the truth a little BUT there is also truth in everything I have said here.

I don't believe the American people have a clue or understand the tax hikes on the way between health care and the debt not including energy prices are going to go up in the near future and this doesn't include Cap and Tax.
Some people are having a tough time as it is.
Another basis for my comment here is that politicians and rich people will be able to afford a higher lifestyle and afford all of these taxes listed above.
People like me and you won't be able too, I am not so sure the middle class will survive.
Look at the way the politicians live compared to us today, that gap is only going to increase.
I'm going to think really hard about this the next few days.
How many people have said this about things happening in this country yesterday or today.
Banning light bulbs and pet sales for starters.
Have they banned people's rights to pray in schools?

Again, I believe I might have stretched the truth a little but I do think there is truth to be found in what I have said.
I have no problem laughing at myself or with you years from now if my theories turn out to be bunk.
However I simply can't overlook some of the alarming signs that are happening in the country.

But the left has done the same exact thing, have they not?
Maybe I am wrong here but like I have said I would be happy with some middle ground.
I totally agree with you here although I am against government run health care for similar reasons.
Your health should be between you and your doctor, the government should have no role
in your health care and that includes abortion, that should be left up to the individual.
I don't know, I agree with you but at the same time I see the other side of the coin.
Look at this story from The View and what Joy Behar and others have said about planned parenthood.
I believe facts and information have been kept from victims of planned parenthood?
Joy Behar: Profits are the 'Real Immorality' of Abortion | NewsBusters.org
I know I have said the far right here but I think from what I have read of your posts that we may be in agreement here?
I see and concentrate more on the far left because I really believe they are much more of a threat than the right at least in todays world for the reasons I listed above.
The Right seems powerless now, really?
The left own the unions, school systems through the union, etc.
Not saying there isn't some conservatism in the schools but from all accounts that I hear the left dominates.

I am not gonna try to read a link from my phone, that will have to wait till tomorrow. But if we want to lessen abortions, part of what we need is comprehensive sex education that teaches all the facts. Abstinence AND prevention through contraceptives. When the religious far right fights against real sex education they are defeating their own goal of preventing abortions.

Its crap like this that I could not become a republican when I left the democratic party.

Agreed, I totally agree that the far right doesn't do themselves any favors when they do things like this.
I totally get the picture of these types imposing on individual rights and freedoms but IMHO the left is a bigger threat in many aspects of life today.
Ironic that the same people who yelled and accused the right of doing the same thing are now doing it to everyone else.
    Then again maybe not?
So many times in politics the far left and right don't do themselves any favors because they are unwilling for compromise such is the case with this administration.
Well I am glad you left the Democrat party probably for similar reasons and I sure hope for the sake of the country we can find some middle ground and find some individuals in government that are better than the last 2 administrations or we are headed down the tubes.

Not to drift the thread, but...

Until enough people come around to jumping onto a third party to make it on equal footing with the Dems and GOP, the only thing it will do is take away votes from whichever party is closest to your beliefs. I don't think this is even anything new -- I saw a show the other day about Teddy Roosevelt's presidency, and it talked about how his third party run split the right between him and Taft and ensured the election of Wilson. And it's just as recent as Bush/Perot/Clinton. Perot got no electoral votes but still took almost 20 million votes away from Bush.

It may take personal compromise to vote for someone who doesn't share all of your beliefs (like when I held my nose and voted for McCain), but for right now, voting for a third party candidate is just doing your part to make sure your ideological opponent has a better chance of getting elected.

I agree and often the only choices are dem or pub. But I will just have to vote the lessor of the evils and whoever is closest to my beliefs. But neithher party will have me as a member, contributor unless they quit pandering to the extremes. Reregistering ind really did nothing in the sense of I already vote that way. It is a way of registering my disgust with the dems as I was a dem from when I first registered to vote.

And nader took votes from gore so its been even more recent. Tho many will say it worked out in that instance. Lol. But nader took "just enough".

    Failed to add...

That is until enough people leave the dems and the pubs and start fieldingmoderates that appeal to the moderates in both parties and can pull those votes. Even if they don't have enough support to win, if they are closer to what I believe they get my vote. Right now third party candidates tend to be looney tunes that are just as far to the right or left - or more so - than the dems or pubs.

Another interesting article on a similar subject.
This goes along with my theory of power companies regulating people's energy usage through regulators or higher prices.
How about this, I am not for anything that declines our standard of living.
We need Nuclear facilities instead of making Americans sacrifice.
Its too bad France has led the way, this country is failing mostly due to our dreadful politicians.

In the heat wave, the case against air conditioning
    LINK washingtonpost.com
    Quote
A.C.'s obvious public-health benefits during severe heat waves do not justify its lavish use in everyday life for months on end. Less than half a century ago, America thrived with only the spottiest use of air conditioning. It could again. While central air will always be needed in facilities such as hospitals, archives and cooling centers for those who are vulnerable to heat, what would an otherwise A.C.-free Washington look like?
