I seriously doubt that if RP was the SG president, instead of an LSU football player, that anybody would know about him being questioned by the FBI, being present at a bar fight, using his brother's ID to get into a casino, missing classes, a faculty meeting, etc. The SG president isn't a high profile position that too many people care about (and thus the media doesn't care about). Granted, if the SG president started missing actual student goverment meetings (which would be like RP skipping football practice and football games), then I could see it causing "cries everywhere" to remove him from office (but only within the little SG community, which like I said, not a lot of people care about).

It's nice to think that people like you think that everybody goes through college acting like perfect little boy scouts, but the fact of the matter is, its very common for college kids to make irresponsible mistakes. You do realize that LSU doesn't even have a requirement that their students attend class? All LSU students have to do is find out when the tests are and when the assignments are due that they will be graded on... and all they have to do is do a minimal job on these, and they get to proceed toward graduation.

To give another example, I knew a college kid who did the same thing that RP did -- used his brother's ID to try and get into the casino. The police let him go with just a warning. I've noticed that the police are pretty cool with being lenient with college kids. But with RP, they have to be much stricter, because he's such a high-profile person they don't want to look like they are favoring him. When they responded to the casino officials that caught him using his brother's ID, they couldn't just let him go with a warning. They had to book him with a misdemeanor (the same as a speeding ticket).

I have no reason to doubt Miles and his staff in their decision making abilities. Having said that, I am glad this is Miles' problem and not mine.

Also, I realize this is the offseason and we don't have much football to talk about. RP missing some classes and not communicating w/ the coaches (or whatever he did) is as close as we're going to get to serious Tiger Football for months.

I am going to lay back and let this situation play itself out, but here are my thoughts:

Are any of RP's violations to date major? Not yet. We're not talking about Rape, or armed robbery here. We're talking about missing classes and doing stupid chit that normal 20 yr old college students do.

Does RP deserve another chance? Sure! Because CLM said so.

Should this be RP's last chance? Probably so. Depends on what happens over the next few months.

Without RP are our Tigers in trouble at the QB position for 2008? Probably so.

Looks like an easy decision to me.

Dandy Don says RP will not practice with the team this Spring.

If true, hard to imagine Miles would stunt RP's leadership of the team all Spring over "no big deal".

Perhaps someone "in the business" will have the real story...

funny how you cite Dandy Don, then poke fun at me for being "in the business".

Dandy Don is in the business of being a fan. Great writer and a die-hard LSU, but there is nothing "official" about what he says. Just like there is nothing official about what Buddy says.

I expect RP back soon. I don't know when or if he will ever even see the practice field this spring. But Miles has reached out and told him to get ready.

There is no more limbo and no more deliberating on whether or not he will be back. He WILL be back.

Dandy Don - a great writer? What business are you IN? :lol:

He's a gentleman and one of my favorite Tiger Fans ever, and I love reading his site, but he is certainly not a great writer.

sure. he could kill someone tomm and be kicked off the team for good.

but if the season started tomm, he would be LSU's starting quarterback.

My whole point is the current situation has not and will not warrant him being kicked off the team.

Just to clear up any potential smarty pants out there. lol
