I apologize for whatever I post that is redundant. I’ve read through the entire thread over the last few days, but don’t have the patience to do it again.

Perrilloux’s chronology (with the help of Wikipedia):

Feb 2005: Running his mouth on signing day – LINK. That never cropped again and it seemed was handled by older players very quickly in a not so subtle way :)

May 2006: WAFB reported that Perrilloux was looking to transfer, possibly to Grambling. I believe that Perrilloux’s older brother did make some phone calls, but I have no idea if it was on Ryan’s say so. The only effect was that it gave the impression that Perrilloux was unhappy with his lack of playing time.

Jan 2007: Perrilloux gave a gas station attendant a counterfeit $20 - LINK. Because of that he became “a person of interest” in a federal case. That’s all we really know. Was Perrilloux or maybe his brother involved in the counterfeit scheme? Did Perrilloux even know the bill was counterfeit? I don’t know, but I think the latter is probable. Fortunately most juries don’t convict on suspicion alone.

May 2007: Perrilloux is suspended for trying to use his brother’s ID to get into a casino – LINK. This may be the worst that Perrilloux has done. At least it’s the only one with definitive proof of wrong doing.

Jul 2007: Perrilloux is said to have been among several who were present during Odom’s tirade that got him suspended, but Perrilloux was never accused of anything. Rumor mostly, but included for the picky…

Oct 2007: Perrilloux is part of the incident at the Varsity that led to Odom’s dismissal - LINK. Despite what the article says, it’s my understanding that Perrilloux was never suspended over this. While things were under investigation, Perrilloux was not allowed to practice. Because he missed Monday and Tuesday practices, he was not allowed to make the trip to Alabama. It’s nothing to brag about, but technically I don’t believe it was a suspension.

Feb 2008: Miles suspends Perrilloux indefinitely for violating unspecified team rules - LINK.

And last, but not least the latest incident:

The Reveille isn’t going to win any awards for investigative journalism on this. First report says it happened on Friday 30 minutes after closing and the police were called - LINK (note: this link is slightly corrected where it says Sunday, but the article still says Friday).

Their second report says it happened on Sunday and that the sheriff’s office, who I assume has jurisdiction, was not called – LINK.

Despite the contradictions and inaccuracies, they spoke with two different people who were there and who say that Perrilloux acted inappropriately. Perrilloux acting inappropriately was also implied in WJBO’s initial report.

The Advocate’s report came out Tuesday in the paper only, not online - LINK. By the time it reached the mainstream on Wednesday, the report was out of date and the district manager had disputed the local manager’s version of events per WWL – LINK. “Michael Lawless, District Manager for the Baton Rouge location, today said that Perrilloux was in fact asked to leave the restaurant Sunday night after allegedly making comments that a server took as offensive.”

Bottom line, did Perrilloux engage in inappropriate behavior on Sunday night? I believe he did and that the restaurant’s district manager confirming that Perrilloux was asked to leave is all the information that anyone needs. Was it bad enough that if any other player had done it that they would have been suspended? I don’t know, but I think it’s likely.

Regardless of how minor Perrilloux’s offenses have been individually, he does have a track record and it ads up. I believe that most players would have been dismissed by now. If Perrilloux stays out of trouble and is the QB for 2008, I believe that can make the difference between winning two games that LSU loses without him. I am also convinced that Miles believes the same thing. I hope it all works out, but if Perrilloux can’t get it together and the team starts to resent “special treatment”, then this can backfire in a major way. In effect, Miles is going for it on fourth down with Perrilloux. I just hope the calculated risk pays off.

I think most of you "adults" here are forgetting what it was like to be in college and what your actions were like while attending the colleges of your choice. I have 2 children now, and I attended college... I kinow I partied, I skipped classes and I had my fair share of what others might consider "bad judgements". It's all part of the learning curve of life. I learned a great deal from it... but not for a few years after.
I was a college athlete and I witnessed other athletes doing all the same things as RP does now. Unless the kid is actually breaking the law... it's not a huge deal... college kids everyday do the dame things. To say you all never did would be lieing.

I live in Shreveport... Hestor has a ton of family here and i know him as well as some of his family and other friends. While Hestor may not be at restaurants throwing beers at people or in street fights every night... he also is no saint. I have seen him at several parties here, and his behavior at times was reminiscent of Chase Pittman. Point is... regardless of the names being mentioned all players have their character flaws.... you just hear more about RPs because he's now the man for the LSU program.

Not to mention that with the exception of his ONE arrest... all of his suspensions have come from Miles directly for missing practices or classes (basically the suspensions were equivelant to our fthers grounding us for bad report cards or caught skipping school). Something ALL of us who attended college or high school did at one point or another. I think RP is in no way bad shape or in jeopardy of being kicked off the team... but i'm sure all of this "bad" remarks towards him doesn't help out.

You are implying that we are on the same level as rp and represent the university equally, which is false. Otherwise it wouldn't be a big deal.

Whether we're equal to or not has no relevance. He's a college level athlete (yes more gifted than most) but still a student athlete. He will and is going to make mistakes, like all of us did. To put more blame on him then the wlak on for doing the same stuff is just idiotic. You and a few others here think he should be treated like a pro player who's responsible for making the club $billions$ a season.
So in other words you think Brett Farve (although he's a great guy and a heck of an athlete) should've been kicked out of the NFL a few years ago for being addicted and abusing Scheduled Narcotic pain killers?
All im saying is RP is still in all aspects a kid who is enjoying his college years... and will make mistakes... unless he's breaking the law (which he's not) either support him or become Miss State fans.
I'm also glad you're not the HC at LSU otherwise we'd never win a game... you'd have all of our talent kicked off the team before we started the season. And yes, trust me the other team members skip classes too... all too often.

Of course it does. He can change the image of a university a lot faster than I can. As for the walk-on they should be treated equal, but life isn't fair. But at the same time do you think the walk-on would still be on the team? Perrilloux and other top players will always receive unfair treatment from the media, whether it be positive or negative for them.

Absolutely he should -- in a sense. He will certainly have more opportunities but the principles are the same. College football is a business and provides a lot for other LSU sports programs. It always has and always will be run in a business like fashion.

Stop being naive. One incident like this doesnt merit being kicked off the team.

And my teams would be incredible and I would have Leinart and seven golden girls in my hot tub every night.

According to you it does... becuase other than his misdemeanor arrest for trying to enter a casino... all RP has really done to get suspended is skip classes and some team meetings. All the other stuff is either heresay, or gross exageration of the facts. You can have that one friend who is always getting into fights and arrested for them... and you always be there... but that doesn't make you guilty of those fights.
Like I said... classes are skipped all too often by many more than just RP... and your last sentence here just shows how you'd blatantly abuse your power so i move to strike you from your imaginary postion before we make negative headlines.

No, I said what I meant.

False. The news reports on what he did was just hearsay. If all he did was miss classes do you really think I would think that, or others would think that?

Don't get me wrong, I really don't care what the outcome is. I'll cheer for him and I hope he takes advantage of the opportunity he has. You're making it out like I'm on a mission to see him fail, which is not the case at all. Selfishly I want him on the team, I'm just not sure it is the right thing to do.

Ok so you're saying that Miles has suspended him multiple times for no reason? If he is such a saint why has Miles had to suspend him at least 3 different times? Has he committed horrible crimes? No, but he is a magnet for trouble and can't find brains needed to stay out of the dog house and on the football field. RP has no one to blame but himself for the situation he is in and it is a sad situation indeed.

It's way past time for RP to grow up and start thinking about his future and his family. He is standing right square in the middle of a huge crossroads. One leads him to fame and fortune while the other leads him to standing at the end of the checkout counter putting groceries in a bag. Only RP has the power to chose which road he takes no matter how much those around him try to lead him down the better of the two. So far RP has shown an overwhelming fondness for the lesser of the two choices. It would be a sad thing indeed to see someone waste such an opportunity and I hope he makes the right decision........very soon, before he no longer has the choice!

The kids create their own newspaper with their own resources, they can do whatever they want. The kids write for a newspaper paid for with LSU resources, LSU has a say in what they write. The Daily Reveille has had (or still has) a rival commercial paper not associated with LSU, I forget the name of it. The editors of that rival LSU paper still have to answer to the owner(s) of that paper that employ them, just like the editors of the New York Times or Washington Post have to answer to the shareholders of those corporations that own those newspapers (and the board of directors they elect to manage those corporations).

Interested thing about all this worry and concern over the RP issue... whose to say that he doesn't have a career-ending knee injury first game against Appy State... or whose to say he just turns out to be flat next year, and gets benched in favor of our back-up anyway?
