    LSU QB Perrilloux Off Suspension

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux returned from a suspension, and hopes to be allowed soon to practice with the team.

LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette said Thursday that there is no timetable for Perrilloux, who finished last season as the expected heir apparent for the starting job, to return to the field.

"He's no longer suspended, which means he has some privileges back, but one of the privileges he's not been able to regain is the ability to practice with the team," Bonnette said.

LSU coach Les Miles suspended Perrilloux indefinitely in February, shortly before spring practice began, for unspecified team violations.

Perrilloux's former high school coach, who remains close to the quarterback and his family, has said Perrilloux missed a mandatory team meeting, then missed classes to attend his father's funeral without notifying coaches.

It was the third suspension for Perrilloux...

In May 2007 he was suspended from the team indefinitely after he was cited [with a misdemeanor summons] for trying to illegally get on a riverboat casino in Baton Rouge by using his older brother's driver's license. He was reinstated in August.

In October, the week before the Alabama game, he was barred from practice for his role in a nightclub brawl.

Glad to see the kid back on the team.
I hope he stays positive and steers clear of
trouble. He can use all the negative stabs in
    having a great season.

I've pretty much stayed away from this arguement. I have my own opinions and have voiced them in the past but my concern is whether suffice punishment is missing spring practice or if it would have been better for him to HAVE to participate in practice with the scout team or something similar. I think getting a ride out of practice and then being allowed back after the work is done sets a bad precident. I have a hard time getting behind him due to the past indecressions. I only matter as a fan though and my opinion means diddley in the grand scheme.

Here's another take, indirectly inspired by something DD said in his post this morning.

Perhaps, knowing that RP is head&shoulders better than his proteges, Miles is using this "opportunity" to inject some creative friction between RP and JL, thus enticing the fabulous Mr. Perrilloux to work his talented arse off this summer. Let's face it - it would have been easy for him to coast, knowing there's no way a RSF was gonna beat him out after he buried him in Spring practice.

Now, however, J Lee has some snaps, some cred with the rest of the offense, and some film for RP to watch and wonder - "hey, this kid might make it easy for CLM to kick my butt off the team if I screw up again."

Just a thought. Hell, whether he thought of it or not - I think this is basically what might be happening and it may be for the best, no?

    Perrilloux isn't stupid.

When he is asked about this, he will agree with you. And if he has a Heisman season, he will cry in interviews and talk about this kinda stuff, but he is friends with everyone on the team. They all know, as well as you and I do that no matter what happened, who practiced, etc... Perrilloux will be the starter... PERIOD.

Didn't say he was stupid. But credible doubt is a powerful motivator. And if JL were to use the Spring to develop himself into a credible backup, that seed of doubt in RP's mind may be enough to:

    1. Not skip that class, or
    2. Not hang with Odom, or
    c. Walk away from drunk idiots or bouncers (redundant?), or
    5. Spend a few extra hours studying film/playbook.

I'm not jammin' on your lover, Clair. I'm on the RP for Heisman bandwagon, too.

By the way, RP is NOT the automatic starter, regardless of how badly you need to believe that (why DO you need to believe that?). Miles would not throw the entire team under the bus just to save Ryan should he do something really dumb this summer. I think the entire team knows THAT.

The entire team skips class during the season. If he does that again, no one will know.

Judging by the number of guys who were running today at practice, guys miss class in the offseason, too. Let's suspend them all.

And yes, RP IS the automatic starter. You have never seen the other 2 guys play if you think otherwise.

the only way they will kick Perrilloux off the team is if he is arrested for something really, really bad.

When I say really bad, I mean something other than "he said, she said" stuff, which is all he has been accused of so far in his career.

This is a business. 6-6 isn't acceptable in the eyes of the athletic department. And as sad as it is, fans would rather win 10 with a shady QB than lose 6 with a clean one. That's just how it is.

P.S. Your drunk bar thing makes no sense (don't surprise me), because RP was not in the police report. He didn't throw a punch or fight with anyone. He was just with the guy who did fight. Granted, that is a mistake and should be avoided, but he didn't actually fight anyone. Pushed a bouncer is the worst anyone had reported.

How old are you Clair? Nevermind. I believe I can guess. (Doesn't matter to you, but 'splains a lot to me.)

I bow to your insider wisdom and await next season with hope but not much confidence that ANYTHING you say wrt RP is actually true.

It's tough to be hopeful for him if his friends are feeding him anything close to the BS you seem to believe about life and leadership.

I was hoping you'd tell us why you are so compelled to defend RP beyond reason. Are you related? Do you hang with him in class? Wazzup?

it's a sign of a bad debater to resort to criticizing the person doing the debating, rather than the issues at hand.

But it's cool. When he throws his 20th TD pass next year, you'll be all over him and pretend like you never said anything negative. I expect that.

And until I see you at a practice one day, I trust that the forum collectively respects my "insider" knowledge more than they do your slanted opinion, so it's cool. I think my record and the accuracy of the things that I have reported 1st to you all here speak for themselves.

You should review my posts. You'll realize I'm all about him starting for us next year. I just don't unilaterally believe he's this misunderstood person that you seem to worship.

And you're right, I made a debating error. But when you're 42, trust me, you'll be challenged as well to suffer 20-somethings with alligator mouths and hummingbird azzes...

If I'm wrong about your age, I sincerely apologize (and am very surprised).

As for practices - if only I had the time and the geographic advantage. Alas. Spring game will have to suffice.

OK, now I'm REALLY out. Seriously. No matter what.

    Seriously.
