Well, I thought Ryan. P did very good considering that it was a very tough environment and only his second start. I saw an effort by him to call the plays quickly too. Still, he did struggle with it at times because we had all 3 of our timeouts called with over 11 minutes left in the first half. He definitely has a cannon and threw some good passes. He needs to ease up on his touch (too hard), but that can be fixed. And he also needs to sense the rush because he definitely wasn't and was very fortunate last night. I thought Byrd should have been our player of the game. He had our only offensive TD and had one of the best catches I've ever seen. Still, I don't have a real problem with Ryan being the MVP because he played tough in the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP. As far as Heisman talk goes...that's really jumping the gun. He did a good job, but let's not get crazy. Now, if he starts taking off like Dennis Dixon and running on plays as well, then you might be on to something. Overall though, he was very successful to me.
Just for information's sake, at least one of those were called by the coaching staff & had nothing to do with Ryan. There was one long bomb in particular where it went to far & it looked like the blood from his finger was making the ball slip some. He's generally got great touch though. Our Oline did not have its best night. He did a good job of staying in the pocket & waiting for plays to develop down field. That's what the coaching staff wanted him to do (aka playing within the system), because I doubt they wanted to run him very much with our third string being a walk-on.
I hope RP's finger and thigh are healed up for the MNC game on January 7th. And I hope Miles and Crowton allow him to take the field for a few series. A healthy Flynn is definitely #1. But RP earned the right to be a difference maker vs. the Buckeyes. Also, I read a report that Keiland Williams exited the locker room after half time wearing no pads. That hit he took on his knee was vicious. He sounded in high spirits, though, in a post-game interview on the LSU Radio Network. He did not discuss his injury. Anybody got an idea how serious his knee is? I hope we're not talking JVincent or ABroussard-type rehab. :champs:
If he throws a short ball , yes , he will have all the tools he is a great talent . If he stays out of trouble , that is how the SEC will stop him .
RP played like he had ben there before and it was no big deal. i think we have a special qb now to look foward too.
