let me be more specific. i wasnt referring to isl's post. and we see where rp's talent without other things to back it got him. can the kid please play in the sec before we say if hes gonna make it? if i seem a bit snarky tonight, i am. those posts rubbed me the wrong way.
its cool. its a recruiting board, and people evaluate talent. no harm, just their opinion and there are lots of questions about his passing ability. i am sure they are thrilled to have him on board though.
i agree with you, but it seem to me the whole package wasnt being taken into consideration. stats are only part of the story. it would probably be best if i shut up now. like i said. snarky mood tonight. and yes, tirk, i am using that word just for you.
Shepard hit 15 out of 29 for 51.7%. Better, but still needs to be more consistent. But he deserves a chance to show what he can do at the next level. We will see what he can do in spring practice next year. That will be his mid-term exam. His finals will come in fall practice.
Shepard is not a refined passer. We know that. His stats running a Jr High offense behind a terrible OL are no indication of his ability. Here's what we have - a tremendous athlete, with a good arm, who is intelligent, of great character, and dedicated to improving himself. He's a great leader & can make all the throws. The only question is his ability to comprehend and operate a complex playbook & offense. I'll take my chances on that any day of the week. And if QB doesn't work out for Shepard, he would make a fantastic WR.
Another great Sheppard article, I dont think he ability to grasp a playbook is a problem at all. This kid is smart and is graduating early. http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=3148
When Shepard runs Crowton Offense he will put a lot of pressure on the DEs and CBs, when he gets outside the box. I can't wait to see him in action.
Think about Shep and Randle in the pistol formation...option sweeps, WildCat formation with Randle at QB, Shep at WR...endless possiblities.
