must have been a interview a week prior to the LSU camp...regardless of the article, I doubt he'll ever visit.

Okay, you definitely did NOT read the article even after I mentioned it in my prior post. The article was posted Monday, Feb 25th by Scott Schrader. He doesn't hold on to recruiting updates. He posts what he has when he has it. So FYI, here's what's true:

Shepard took an unofficial visit to LSU this past weekend and was impressed enough with the school, the football program and Les Miles, that he considers the Tigers his top school after the visit.

The article didn't suggest that Shepard will take a visit, Shepard SAID he would visit. Unless you have any reason to doubt him personally, I'd say he will be at the Nike camp this summer. Still doesn't mean he won't be a Tiger.

I doubt Shepard commits to LSU before that Nike Camp. And if he doesn't, he will take that visit to USC. Then we'll just have to take our chances.

I don't think USC will pose much of a threat, the kid wants to play QB and we told him we will give him every opportunity to do just that. USC already has a stud (polished) QB in their 09 class. The chance to play early is important to this kid and that hurts USC's chances (our depth chart looks much better to him).

I don't remember seeing this posted but I read on another forum that he graduates in December so could actually be counted in 08' class, freeing up another schollie for next year.

Not sure how that would help. If he counts towards 08, then that's one less we can have on the limit of 85 after the 09 recruits.

I seriously doubt that he said all that, Sunday as he was traveling back to Houston. And between school Monday morning, by the time the report was posted. Just seems like info he had prior to his visit, just cause he mentions info of RS visit to LSU...I doubt he'd ask RS about USC after he just visited LSU.

Yeah, I guess that would only help if we were at our 25 limit and we're only looking at 19-20. I was thinking for example, if a player got booted- trouble over the summer, or flunked out, quit, etc. he'd slip in their spot which would free up the scholarship he'd get towards next year's class but since we're looking at only 19-20, I guess it's moot.

    Russell Shepard's journal entry:

this was what he said concerning some writers questioning the fact that he was playing recruiting games:

"This past weekend I went up to LSU and I didn’t see a flaw anywhere. and They had every thing I want and they are perfect for me right now. I don’t play with this because this is going to determine my life and this is where I will be for the next 4 to 5 years of my life. So if you think I am playing games, I’m not. It’s my life and I don’t play with my life at all. So when I said I almost committed, I was honest. The only thing that held me back was the fact that I haven’t seen some other schools yet. So for every one who wants to know who is my top school it is.........LSU"

FWIW....which to me is a lot

His dad loves him some Ken Norton, however.
