The point of posting the article wasn't to suggest that USC has a legit shot, just to provide some further insight to Shepard's way of thinking. And as was pointed out already, that GF very well could be history or at least have company by signing day next year. And USC doesn't have a gymnastics team.
And there really isn't a shot for USC or the "BushFreeLiving" Realtors..He just wants to add USC to make it look good...I doubt he ever visits there. He'll stay close to mom, and his 1st real Love.
Now I'm wondering if you even read the article. From Shepard, "I asked if I could send him (Ken Norton) a copy of my highlight tape and sent it to him. They (USC) got it about five days ago (Feb. 19) and offered me.” On a visit, he said, "Yeah, I’ll visit USC, even if it’s for a Nike Camp,” said Shepard. “I definitely want to see the campus, I’m sure about that. They really want to get me down there and see what I can do hands on. They know I can play football, but they just want to show me around so I can see what the campus has to offer.” To summarize, HE sent USC his tape for whatever reason. And yes, he plans on a visit and why not? It's not all about the final choice, but the process. Remember PJ participated in the Nike Camp last year because he knew it was a place to compete against the best. It's a good place for ANY player to make a mark or to separate themselves from other players.
Another dump question I know but I gotta ask it. Why does Scout show Shepard as highly interested in LSU but with no offer from LSU?? Is Scout that far off base or does Shepard not have a Acceptable offer?? Am I missing something here - did he almost commit on Junior Day but didn't because LSU would not accept a committment from him this early?? He is a 5* isn't he?
If you believe TigerRag, he almost committed Saturday at Jr. Day. He seems intent on taking some visits before deciding anything.
