Well it could be the main issue at hand but I can't say that with 100% confidence because I do not know all the details about the actual payment arrangements, etc... If Shep uses all or a big chunk of it his stipend to cover the rent. (I believe a small fraction of food expenses off campus are also included into the stipend) Then his girlfriend covers the difference and her money comes from her employment within the athletic department then you can see why LSU would need to report to the NCAA if that was the case. I am not sure how common of a case that would be but I am sure it has come up at one point or another. Not sure if there is a bylaw discussing that situation. For the record, Shep's girlfriend came to LSU when Shep was a senior in HS. They were dating when both were attending the same HS.
Maybe Rosetta's daughter works in the library and he wanted to make sure that no one thought Shep was moving in with her.
No disrespect, but that's just wrong. The individual players know the drill inside and out. There is a formal education process that occurs annually with every stipend agreement. At some point, these young men must accept individual responsibility for their actions or lack thereof. It simply isn't possible for the compliance staff or coaches to stand on the players shoulders 24/7. To blame the coaches, IMO, is just wrong.
Agreed, but all of the know-it-all Miles haters have to find something negative to try to chain him to. My question on all of this is whether Shep and his GF actually made a rent payment yet.
Shep didn't even have a car his first year on campus. He might have one by now, because let's face it, you see a lot of nice cars parked in the WCA and S. Stadium lots and they don't all belong to faculty or coaches, but the fact that he didn't even have a car as an incoming freshman with a lot of hype surrounding him tells me that he's not the kind of guy who has his hand out. I'm guessing and hoping this is harmless. When it rains it pours though.
Shep has demonstrated nothing but high moral and character since coming to LSU, he's been an unofficial recruiter to other big recruits, and has always represented the Univ. very well. I don't see this being an instance of any wrong doing purposely on Sheps part. I hope he's able to play in our season opener, Shep is due this season.
