This was a HS QB who was quick, elusive, and fast with no experience at WR. This is not Rueben Randle who's played receiver since he left pee-wee football. He's still learning. He doesn't have natural hands, but he didn't grow up catching bricks like Jarvis Landry. Calling him overrated out of high school is disingenious considering he wasn't even rated at the position he's playing. If he was still at QB and doing poorly, sure overrated is the term. But as a WR, overrated based on what? He never played the position before he got to LSU.

I still contend that he should switched to DB, but what's done is done. His stats show that given opportunity, he's very dynamic with the ball in his hands...and in space, where he is much more than a straight-line speed guy.

His hands have limited his opportunity to a degree with his drops. But at the same time, he didn't get a lot of opportunity to run the plays he's good at...quick dumps, middle screens, etc.

My responses on MY OPINION are going to be limited to a certain poster, because there is no way in hell I'm spending my day arguing with a guy who cannot accept obvious inaccuracy in his thought process...only leads to inadequacy as a member of this site.

I assume it's a you-tube thing. Embedding is not permitted for some videos.

Thanks Red. The link works fine so hopefully interested parties will check it out to see what I saw...a guy, when given opportunity, who is much more than just straight-line speed.

JUCO, at it's highest level, doesn't equate to the defensive schemes ran in D1 and it's far from as talented from a personnel standpoint.

You expect him to have success at this level based on what you observed him doing in JUCO. Hence, expectations.

first fall scrimmage, Saturday...Shep got some action rushing the ball:

Jeremy Hill led all rushers with 71 yards on nine carries followed by Kenny Hilliard with 31 yards on eight attempts. Michael Ford ran for 30 yards.
"I enjoyed the rushers," Miles said. "I think Jeremy Hill made a couple of really nice moves and (Russell) Shepard took a couple of balls out of the backfield. We rushed the football pretty well."

What is the general opinion about Shepard as a person? Coming out of high school, I read a couple of stories of him being a great leader, engaging personality, and even liked by opposing teams. While I don't follow him on twitter, I've seen bits and pieces so not sure if he is creating some of the drama or if we (fans) are helping to make it overblown.

I honestly believe Shepard can be a solid SEC WR (capable of 800 yds rec) but also realize we are really talented in that area so he would have to gradually earn those types of consistent passes in his direction.

I'd say hes has a quality about him that is full of worth.

    lol

    To the yards:

To leave LSU, in my eyes, as an LSU great he will need to have 2,000+ all purpose yards including return yards now that TMDipshit is off the team.
