A kid with his versatility should be on the field somehow and as much as possible. He is very dangerous. Lets face the facts, its highly unlikely he will be playing much QB as a fresh. So put him in once and a while for a run or as a gimmick. You can still use him at WR, RB, or return man. Once he learns the system, if he is LSU QB material then he can play strictly that position. Until then use his unique talents.

I don't know, . . . when a guy is a top-notch ATH, you're tempted to try him several places to find his natural fit. Some of the best safeties and wideouts in the NFL were high school quarterbacks.

This was something Nick was always good at. Looking at a high school quarterback and seeing a NFL cornerback. Or looking at a high school tight end like Marcus Spears and recognizing a prototype NFL defensive end.

Miles is no fool and will give him a shot a quarterback, but he may be tried on special teams, at wide receiver and defensive back as well. Certainly if he redshirts, he'll be evaluated for all of the above in practice.

I agree with this, but with a high profile recruit, who is not Shepard of course, because he loves LSU. If you are pursuing a guy like this, like 20 other school are in the nation and he has a promise from another school to play QB and you as a coach are honest and tell him we may like you at other positions and he doesnt want to hear that. He is going to the other school. However, I love the honesty that CLM has with all of his players.

Here is an article with a highlight clip from one of his games out of Houston. He is #10.

    Russell Shepard commits to LSU

Was just talking to my diehard UT friend who told me we got Shepard. He still isn't over them losing RP and now we get Shepard. When its good, its great! Just checked the Morning Advocate, they said he chose LSU over 34 other offers. Way to go Les! Didn't see this posted elsewhere. If I missed it, sorry!

:crystal::crystal:I hope that Crowton keeps this kid at quarterback. This kid is a freak and is reminds me of Vinsanity Young. I still believe that once RP gets settled in he will dominate and be a heisman candidate. I know that may sound crazy, but the kid is still the best quarterback I have ever seen. I strongly believe that Perrilloux will be back and ready to roll. He will kill teams next year with legs and arm.

As for Shepard this is the type player I knew we would get once Crowton came in. Crowton is about to make everyone forget about USC's offenses of the past 5 years. Think of this: Shepard, Ford, Lacy, Lipscomb, Randle, Tolliver, Toliver, Benton, Bell. Speed, speed, speed, speed. Crazy azz speed coming up. I have had the blessing of seeing all these cats play except for Ford and Shepard. I can't wait.:wave::tigereye::milesmic::LSU231::grin::bncry::bncry:;)
