What I am most excited about is how mature this kid is already at only 16/17 years of age. Everybody from the Texas boards are hailing him as a true leader on the field. Pretty exciting stuff. I truly believe LSU will give this kid every chance to succeed at QB.
Texas boards are comparing this guy more to Reggie McNeal then Vince Young, but hell if Reggie was on a real team (instead of aTm) he probably would have won a national championship too
I don't really care what random joe-blow texas fan says... think about the things we said about McKnight when he spurned LSU. They are upset right now and are talking out of emotions. The only Texas fan's opinion I care about is Mack Brown's who offered the kid a scholly. Urban did, too. So did Pete. So did Bobby Bowden. So did Saban. Those are the only people "in the know" I care about.
Reggie McNeal was a hell of a QB coming out of HS and a good passer. Part of his problems were due to his coaching, so take it as a compliment, not an insult. If he has similar skills he will be fine. I still question whether he will be a QB or not but it is not a concern to me, but a bonus. The top teams and recruiters recruit athletes. If they cant play one position they will fill another hole.
Right on the money Clair! If this kid is good enough to be offered by these guys/schools, he's gotta be good enough to play for LSU!!! I'm fired up!!! :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
Don't worry about Shepard's completion percentages. My guess is that 1. He was poorly coached as a QB & just put out there to make plays, and 2. If after a year at LSU as a QB isn't working out, he could be a phenomenal WR. McFarland is mentioned as part of a combo with Shepard, Loston, and Lipscomb because he's become friends with thim. However, I don't think Lipscomb gets a committable offer & I put our chances at a little under 50% for both McFarland & Loston right now. As for Louisiana guys vs out of state guys, we know we are getting the Louisiana guys we want. Several are basically silent commits. We are recruiting out of state with this knowledge & will not overbook or fill any of their spots.
As for Jarrett Lee, he was offered by UT late in the process after they lost their 5 star QB commit from Florida to UF.
