Video interview of Russell on Athlon. Very polished kid when it comes to all the attention he gets. Certainly seems like the opposite from how RP started his career with us. AC100 On Campus: Russell Shepard-Pt I - AthlonSports.com
When his name gets added to the list of signees on NSD this year it may be one of the best signings LSU has ever seen. He just seems to have it all. I may shed a little tear when he sends his LOI.

Great interview with Athlon up in post #192. I'm impressed with his high goals for himself, and willingness to share accolades with the team and coaches. I was most impressed that he has built a relationship with Jeff Blake, former NFL QB, and is taking individual coaching from Blake on the weekends, working to improve his passing. I see two new weights listed for him, 190# and 195#. That's good, he'll need a little more to stand up to the SEC.
Very good read with predictions and discussions about how this class will shape up. The kid is really acting like a recruiting coordinator and that will translate to leadership on the field. http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=1494
I knew we were high on Appleton's list, but Xavier is surprising to me. We were said to be in the mix for Xavier, but not a favorite as far as I knew. These seem to be bold words that these two are virtual locks right now. Neither is from an area of the country where we traditionally have a strong recruiting base. Does anyone have any updates on these 2 or comments?
Not sure who the favorites of those 2 are but we are definetly in the mix for these guys. I would say we have a better shot at Nixon than Appleton but both will have us in their final list and have been in constant contact with the LSU staff. It has looked better as of late in the most recent updates on these 2.
Thanks for the link. Impressive individual. His strive for excellence and dedication is truly remarkable. As a leader, he also seems to be able to project a sense of calmness and confidence, like Matt Flynn. His level of maturity and decision to pick LSU speaks volumes for :milesmic: and the program:thumb: What a solid recruit, wow.
Russell's comments on Conner Wood: If you subscribe to Rivals, you can read more extensively. I have to say, though recruiting coverage is obviously at another level than days past, I can't think of a single LSU recruit that has been this big of a cheerleader. It's really difficult to describe how impressed I am with this 17 year old. His maturity seems off the charts.
