Shep will get a shot at throwing the ball behind center at the QB position, that is why he came to LSU. Will he be any good throwing the ball as a QB? Who knows (i imagine Lee was a better passer than Shep out of high school). But Shep sure can run the ball!

Electrifying player to watch. He really is the type of guy you have on the field for the vast majority of plays. Put the ball in his hands and good things happen.

We don't know if he'll be a good QB or not because we haven't even seen him throw a pass yet. But he was a good passer in high school, threw some nice passes in the high school all-star game, so all indications point to him being a pretty solid passer. But of course we don't know how good he really is until he we see him throw an actual pass.

Let me ask everyone something. How many of the great running quarterbacks have been deadly at passing the ball on the college level, and have won championships?

Mike Vick - he was an ok passer in college, but really not that effective, but he did lead VT to a national championship game. (ACC)

Seneca Wallace - better passer than Vick, unfortunately played for Iowa State, did make the NFL as a quarterback though. (Big 12)

Brad Smith - set a bunch of records at Missouri for running, never a contender for the Big 12, ok passer, in the NFL as a receiver.

Antwan Randle El - see Brad Smith

Matt Jones - SEC won the SEC West, converted to TE in NFL.

Vince Young - dominated but, primarily with his legs. Much taller than Shep, longer strides, semi effective in the passing game to the tight ends, won a national championship, but won with his legs. (Big 12)

Pat White- Very successful in the Big East, won 4 bowl games, but never played for the marbles.

Terrelle Pryor - not really effective in the passing game, led Ohio St. to BCS last year and lost, has struggled with the passing game this year. (Big 10)

Tim Tebow - not a speed guy, but he is huge which gives him the advantage. 2 championships maybe 3. SEC

I am sure there are alot more, and if you can think of any please list them, but tell me, other than Tee Martin who could run, but was more of a passer, kind of like Matt Flynn.

Tim Tebow is the only SEC quarterback i can think of, that has dominated this conference as a running quarterback, and it isn't because he is fleet footed, its because he is around 240, and can throw the ball when needed.

So basically what i am saying is that Shepard with his size is at a major disadvantage playing quarterback. I think it would serve him better if he played that hybrid Percy Harvin role, because all NFL teams are going to be looking for the next Harvin. I think it would serve LSU better also to have that weapon. And hell you can even line him up at QB 2 to 3 times a game, maybe more. But to say he will be the starting quarterback at LSU, i just don't see it happening.
