http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...bYF?slug=ap-raiders-russell&prov=ap&type=lgns Interesting read... I kinda see this as business as normal... last year's 1st pick got a $54 million dollar deal, he wants $60 million...
It shouldn't be the least bit surprising, since the Raiders don't have a head guy. I'm sure the Calvin Johnson contract will also help set the stage for a deal. It's really pretty silly. Mario Williams: $26.5M Calvin Johnson: $27M JR: $29-$30M
CJ's deal should definitely help the dominoes fall. I doubt the two sides are that far apart after listening to some quotes from Al Davis so it shouldn't be long now. The sooner the better, he needs to get in there and get some reps.
Can't remember the name of the NFL analyst on ESPN yesterday, but he seems to think that he may not be signed until some of the preseason games have been played. Seems they are way off on some of the guarantees. I guess the raiders are low balling a bit. I don't know the particulars of NFL contracts but I am glad to see Russell won't be tossed to the lions before he is given time to develop. Even so, I imagine an extended hold out can't really benefit the learning process.
