Heck, according to those statistics, Blake Mitchell from SC had similar, if not better stats. But to be fair, I never saw him play, so I don't know much about him or his mechanics...

I don't think it's that he lacks the intelligence, only that he doesn't work hard enough on the most important aspects of the game. I remember hearing that he had barely learned the plays going into the 2004 season, and that Flynn knew the book backwards and forwards.

And Jimbo has said several times since the beginning of last season that JR nows knows the offense and all of the plays very well, but his detractors just ignore it.

Just a flash from the past..... lol

Intresting how accurate some of the "experts" :rolleye33: on here were/are about Russell.... tirk, red.... LMAO
Russell sucked then and he sucks now. He had a great LSU team around him then, to prop up his lack of skills. Perfect example of how athleticism only doesnt get it. You need work ethic. Just a guess but IMHO had Flynn started, we MIGHT ( big if ) have 3 crystals.

all water under the bridge.... just thought I'd rub it in cause its all over the media right now what a bust he is.

Point being some of these same posters that walk on water around here post now.... and well just like Old J marc, they arent any better at figurin out football now than they were then. Hey I been wrong plenty of times too... but golly, how could you miss this one??? I cant understand how he ever got drafted.

    have a great day and...

You experts rave on, we will keep watching you! :hihi:

    He did?

2006 QB rating of 167, 67% completions, over 3000 yards for the season, 28 touchdowns, and how many games did he win as a starter? He do all of that in the notre dame game?

How does his failure as a multimillionaire athlete equate to his failure at LSU? I've never really understood the need to tear down his accomplishments here.

.. in other words.. "Look at me!! I was right!! Look at me!"..

And I disagree with your assessment of JR's performance @ LSU, though you're right about the pros, he's a lazy mofo..

Hate him for whatever reason you have in your head, but you'd be frothing at the mouth as would most of the LSU faithful around here, if we had a QB (lazy or not) right now that could perform half as well as Russell did here at LSU.

I agree. Don't feel like looking it up, but I remember posts from when JR was drafted that most were really happy for him, but felt sorry that he went to the Raiders.

Oh I looked it up. It's damn funny but not much point in posting it now. Gotcha is pretty boring.

I seldom post so the look at me thing is laughable. I mostly read stuff. I just find it funny to watch the "always right" guys screw the pooch.

about your disagreement... all I can say is we can agree to disagree. Some folks will go down with a ship in denial that it is really sinking I suppose.
We have a QB that is performing half as well as Russell did here at LSU. We need many other things now, all we needed back then was leadership as was proven when Flynn took over.

I dont "hate" JR. I find him lacking in his profession... period, thats all there is to it. He is just a person, like you or my barber... I hate high taxes, I dont "hate" some former LSU player.. it is what it is.. I hope that fixes you up on the hate thing. if not well ok...

    good day my friend.

re: "Russell has too much talent to sit" - resurrected thread (2006)

He lacked leadership skills. He also had quite a bit of help from a great team around him. it's also a bit easier in college to win playing "sand lot" football which was his style, than it is in college.

the stats dont always tell the whole story, my dude friend as well you know..

again ride that JR pony lol its like the Wal mart pony it went no where.

JR's stats were fine @ LSU but where was the Championship trophy?
We dont field a team to garner stats for individuals, its for the team acomplishments.
Its tough to play "what if?" scenarios but had Flynn been in that year? You see my point. Leadership trumps JR's talent IMHO.
He never panned out as a leader with good work ethic.
    thats obvious now.
