How does CLM and the coaching staff fix this? We had 31 yards rushing, yes only 31! Horrible. Can't blame a wet field because MSU finished with 151. We also ran only 60 or so plays. JJ had a decent game, passed for over 200 yards, and no turnovers. The poor play of the OL and a lack of running game will do us in against the better SEC teams coming up. Again, I'll ask, how is this fixed? :geauxtige
I'm not sure it's all O line ineptitude. As many have pointed out, our runs are predictable which is why our first play in the 2nd half worked. Run formation, fake run, throw, TD. We are getting stacked defenses.
well, when RB's get hit in the backfield its the O line.. Half the time I never see any holes. Our best bet is the sideline runs... Need to use the option and sweeps more..
Would like to see Shepard get more touches. I don't think he had any in the 2nd half. Granted, we didn't run that many plays, though. If he's more involved in the offense, does that potentially open up the running game for us? Can this make up for the shortcomings of the OL? :geauxtige
If we cant get push, someone like Shep will be even more important. We will need to use misdirection plays and use the pass to open up the run. Shep can help do that.
31 yards on 30 carries! One yard per play. It's time to question whether the offensive line needs some shaking up. I'm willing to see some new faces in there, no matter how young, if they can play harder than what we've seen so far. Even our potential All-American can sit a bit if that is what it takes to find a unit that can block. It's not just the run clocking. The pocket collapses too quickly, usually from the outside.
