I will have the oppurtunity to go see Christiane Michael play next year in Beaumont, Tx. I have family that lives there so I will go down and watch him play. I hear we still have a good shot at getting him. There is some information that needs to be cleaned up though that I have been reading on all of these sites when the running back recruiting situation comes up. Ouachita has gone to a spread system and me along with many others had the oppurtunity to watch it in the scrimmage at the end of school before summer. They played West Monroe and at first was like everyone else. I didn't think Conner had the footwork that would fit into that offense. OUachita is running a lot of zone blocking and their offense line is quick, but not overly big like the past. Ouachita ran multiple screens to Conner out of the backfield too and he surprised the hell out of me. I knew from newspaper clippings that he has been busting his tail to get his footwork better and it showed. Not many people were at the scrimmage so this info isn't readily available, but he has improved dramatically from what I saw. He was catching everything out of the backfield and even broke a long 30 yard gainer on a running back screen against West Monroe. He also scored a 40 yard touchdown run OFF THE OPTION READ from the shotgun. I was shocked like some others I knew at the scrimmage at his quick feet. If he continues to run like he did in the scrimmage I hope LSU will reconsider, because that was suppost to be his weak spots. I don't think he'll get an offer, but he can run that scheme now and he will be successful going wherever he goes. I just needed to straighten some people out on some forums who may read this one on his skills. There were weaker last year, but he obvioulsy has busted his rear-end like he has said.
Michael does not have a committable offer. Conner is very talented, he's just not better than the 2 RBs we already have or the 1 we'd hold a spot open for.
I understand. I definitely am not questioning LSU at all. They have my complete trust. LSU offering Conner was not my main priority in the post: it was the misrepresentation of him as a straight forward runner with no vision. He has complete abolished that idea in one scrimmage making many cuts and scoring on a long run in which he juked 3 guys. West monroe folks will never admit it because they are mostly delusional when it comes to other teams talents. But he has gotten quicker and can catch the ball a lot better than before. Ouachita's new quarterback isn't a national recruit but he sure looked good in that scrimmage. He was huge at like 6'0 225 pounds. Great arm, strength and pocket presense. I love Ford, and Dexter Pratt is better than both conner and ford by far after seeing multiple highlights. He is going to the league one day if he stays with it. Powerful and quick as a jitter-bug. I think Pratt will get some PT in 2 years for sure. Who is the other back we are holding out for. I hope we can get Trent Richardson big time. He is better than all of these backs listed in my opinion. I think he will waiver if Keiland, Charles, or Murphy go pro. If no Richardson who else do we go after?? Why can't we go after the back that plays with Shep in Texas? He is fast and is from Louisiana isn't he?
I think Richardson is the only one we would take out of the backs looking at LSU. If not, then we are finished for RB in this class.
Shepard's teammate never got an LSU offer, and there are currently only 2 RBs on LSU's board with committable offers - Richardson & Pryor. Personally, I don't expect us to end up with either one.
