True. But Billy Cannon didn't have the facilities that we spoil our boys with today. A lot of our facilities are superior to those of many NFL franchises. That all cost big bucks, and I'd imagine that Nike, Inc. (a 33-billion-dollar company) helps pay those big bucks in return for letting them put their little Nike swoosh on the uniforms they give us. Look at it like this, even Jim Tressel's sacred vest is not immune from the Nike swoosh...
I'd rather see no change. But if it did occur, I'd hope they stay out of Nike's design room. (Conjuring up images of Oregon). :nope:
i havent heard much talk about white helmets around here but i think those would look pretty chouette
i have heard this and i have gotten it confirmed. but i don't think anything will look different. just a newer, more state of the art mesh material.
LSU will never retire the purple jerseys. However, teams do use alternate jerseys for big games. ND is famous for this with their green jerseys. Georgia, who wears red jerseys, introduced a black alternate jersey this year against Auburn (see photo below). They plan to use the black jerseys again in the future for other big games (like perhaps the one in Tiger Stadium next season). As for LSU, when Dinardo was our coach, we used an alternate jersey (Dinardo was a college football player for Notre Dame). We first used them when we played the school that we had hired Dinardo away from, Vanderbilt. At that time, the team visiting Tiger Stadium could veto LSU's decision to wear their white home jerseys. Vanderbilt decided to do just that. Instead of coming out in our purple jerseys, we came out in yellow jerseys. The most famous case of LSU wearing the yellow jerseys was ten years ago, when LSU played Notre Dame in the Independence Bowl (see photos below).
Just so no one calls them Yellow. Who wants to be called Yellow? GOLD, GOLD- team colors are GOLD, never YELLOW.
One of the cool things about college football is that so many of the great programs have stayed with the same basic uniform design for so many years. I would hate to see us change our traditional look. Constant uniform changing is so Oregon. Now...hanging on to the bowl system? That's a tradition to which I'd gladly bid good-bye.
I really hope they leave the uniforms alone. They are great, simple and need no improvement. Any improvement would be a disprovement and sad.
Well, I wasn't gonna pass judgment one way or the other. That being said, after seeing what they did during the Tulane game I didn't completely put it out of the realm of possibilities. Hey, it may be something as simple as a new company getting the contract for the uniforms. (And, yes, I know, that was a special venue sort of thing) :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
