Word is that opposing coaches are using the perception that the Tiger defense is on the decline, poor coaching against LSU with recruits. Still trying to dig up which coaches are using these tactics. Keep in mind I used the word RUMORED
From what I gather, there isn't a negative recruiting issue with RR...there is a lot of push-pull from his inner circle and apparently that is where the issues are. These issues have been off the record so no one can really say what they are but they are there. We do know RR has no problems with LSU; however, if signing day were today it would be a coin flip b/t LSU and Bama. I gather the negative recruiting Im hearing about (and talking about here) is coming from the defensive side of the ball...ie, with Jones, Telfort, Loston, etc.
it's called recruiting, which in essence means to beat the other guy.I have absolutely no problem with negative recruiting. common sense would have to tell you everyone is doing it you think saban is saying LSU is a great place and they have a wonderful QB...No he is sayng the QB is horriblr which he is, and he is tellign defensive players that the defensive coordinators are horrible which they are....GET REAL
I'm pretty sure NS can't say much about the QB situation as any recruit he picks up will have a completely GREEN QB next season. I'm of a split belief on negative recruiting. On the one hand, I think it takes a sleezy type of salesman to use tatics like that. Instead of selling your product, you're spending your time talking about another product. To me that's the sign of fear. You're afraid you can't compare head-up to the other product. But on the other hand, I sort of feel that any kid that listens to negative recruiting and believes it has been let down by those around him. His family or coaches should have explained it to him, and prepared him for it. I'm not really worried about the negative recruiting however as every team has "down" years. Florida 9 - 4. Bama 7 - 6. I'll take a LSU "down" year at 10 - 3. Heck when NS was here he couldn't keep a 10+ win season every year. Now if it was 3 - 10, that might be another story. . .but for now, don't believe the sky is falling hype on negative recruiting.
bro, sorry, but Im pretty sure CLM and LSU recruits kids by selling the program rather than slamming other programs ala Myer with Petterson last season. Sorry if you believe "negative recruiting" is called "recruiting" :rolleye33:...I disagree and rather not be a part of it. btw, not sure what your point has to do with anything.. I never brought up Saban with regards to "negative" recruiting in this thread. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he does not par take in the activity as he has enough to sell with the direction of his program. But if you have some inside audio with Saban saying these things...by all means, please provide link.
just about every coach in the SEC is awful. don't think for a second that saban isn't using everything he can to get players from us. all of a sudden bama shows up in the mix where LSU seemed prety solid. scares me alot. urban meyer is the best negative recruiter in the nation. but don't think for a second that les and co. haven't said a negative thing about another school. i hate negative recruiting but just like negative political ads, there's a reason for its recent proliferation.
Well, I tend to think some coaches are forced into fighting against those that are negative recruiting against their program...which may lead into some sort of negative recruiting in itself. Then you have your Urban Myers which are a total different breed.
I didn't say RR was buying into it. I said it was being used on him. I think we all know that in recruiting, for the most part, the coaches are not just recruiting the kid but his family etc. (inner circle and the in fighting within his inner circle)
