Those statics keep coming in, are you by a high-powered line? :hihi: Statistics can't measure intangibles. I think it is clear that if Jefferson is in the game, the defense has to consider both the QB draw and the option play. They can essentially ignore this with Lee in the game and focus on the running backs and the wide receivers. It occurs to me that with Lee's new playing weight and reports from practice that he has actually been seen running the option . . . Les might surprise some team down the road by running it with Lee.
Darn iphone auto correct. Statistics don't measure intangibles. They simply show you actual production. JJ's 'intangibles' obviously =/= production. Hence why we were so lackluster in scoring TD's in the redzone the last two years. I doubt Lee ever truly runs the ball unless it's a busted play. However something that I've seen them do a few times already this year is roll Lee out, so it's apparent they're at least comfortable with that.
I agree with this. And if horses like Ware and Ford can't carry it into the endzone when in the redzone, then, well, sometimes it's just not meant to be. You'll never hear me calling for JJ inside the opponent's 20 as Lee, IMO, has much better "touch" on fade routes to the back corner of the endzone than JJ has ever displayed.
You have to account for jj running the option or handing the ball off. That is true. Defenses mostly hopes he tries and pass the ball. There is a better chance of it being intercepted or incomplete, this forcing another fieldgoal. We were damn good at fieldgoals last year in the redzone. Remember? With lee you have to plan on the pass. His back shoulder throw to rr or the fade tend to work a hell of a lot more than any pass jj tried. Then you have to worry about the toss sweep off tackle to one of our players that suppose to run the ball, you know, the runningback. Then when you think you got it figured out, we have the play action pass to the tight end across the middle, a play that the coaches have little faith in running with jj. I would rather be a defensive co with jj in the game. When you're in the redzone, play man to man on the receivers and stack the box. You know jj is going to run the ball, if he passed it someone else might get the glory of a td. We can't have that, can we?
I read 'somewhere' that the GJ is expected to wrap up by noon or early afternoon today: LSU's Jordan Jefferson faces big test at grand jury hearing | Shreveporttimes | shreveporttimes.com It goes on further to talk about the extent of injury's received in determining whether a felony or not, and that Lowery's wouldn't substantiate that. And that Grand Juries in the past have weighed their decisions heavily on the extent of injuries. However, nothing at all has been mentioned about the guy that got 3 broken vertebra, and I believe he is also one of the 4 that are being represented by Lowery's attorney.
JJ cant pass which is a pretty big detriment for a quarterback. at a major program. for a #1 ranked team. with actual receivers. hes not an option unless its the option. everyone can relax. but we thank JJ for his service. the effort was appreciated but we've moved on. its not you, its me. ok it really is you but dont take it personally.
And I don't think he runs a good option either. Unless it's the "read option" you typically see in spread offenses, where he either gives it to the RB or keeps it depending on what the DE does. When he's running the conventional option sweep, he's been nothing shore of poor, IMHO. He's always seemed to have a knack for either hanging on to it too long and allowing the defense to close in on both he AND the running back, or his pitches too erratic.
