Accepting that you’re a sure thing seems like a gamble to me. If Brennan struggles this year and Burreaux takes over the NFL, is Chase’s success last year tarnished a bit as being reliant on maybe the best QB ever?
I've followed the NFL draft much closer for far longer than I have college football going back to the late 90s, it's actually what got me into college ball not just following LSU.. Chase is one of the best receiver prospects I've ever seen, and he destroyed corners who as rookies in NFL camps are right now holding their own with NFL stars like Diggs and Terrell.. He's top 5. Word was he'd actually gotten way better this off season. I think he's a more athletic Michael Thomas type.
Faster, more elusive, but Thomas is as strong as they come and his pure pass catching ability is among the best ever. The League would have to allow defenses some kind of handicap if Chase developed into a Thomas-level pass catcher, he'd be almost unfair.
I’ve never seen a receiver at any level with the contested catch abilities of JaMarr. Even when you watch him in practice against Stingley, Stingley will move him, push him, interfere with his head and frame of reference, but JaMarr makes the catch.
