Beckham is talent. He's been good. He made a crucial mistake, but I don't think anyone can honestly ditch on Bechham. Sheppard is doing better .. I know you said don't say Shepp .. but I really think the guy could be a lot better with some middle of the field passes. Shepp has the ability to separate ... Landry and Boone .. haven't shown they can very well. The only problem I have with these guys is they are relatively short compared to the great receivers. ... hence the midget squad. And with the exception of Shepp .. they aren't that fast. [If Beckham was a speedster, he would have run off and left the corner]. I started a thread on Armand Williams, and Trevin Dural has also been brought up. Both of these guys are tall, potentially good receivers. That's some potential talent that is not being developed or used. Then there is James Wright .. another 6'2 WR, who I think has played some. I'll agree with you, Boone is not talent. He is a drive killer, and needs to sit it out awhile until he learns to catch the ball. Both of our TE's are talented ... 6'5 inch pass catching machines .. but we don't use them. For that matter, I think we should line one of those guys up in the slot or out wide, with the other at TE. They are tall, and tall is what is being successful. Look at Henderson on the Saint's .. that guy isn't small. He's built like a TE .. but plays wide out.
Right now, our receivers are pretty damned average. They aren't getting separation and they aren't holding onto the ball. But its not just talent. Don't we have a wide receiver coach whose responsibility is to get these guys ready to play? Well . . . they ain't ready.
clm has no choice but to hear this from his former player! rr is obviously as frustrated with coaching staff as the fans are. poor play calling, poor execution, poor endurance, poor discipline. clm, please get a real offensive coordinator and hand the reins to him like you did with coach chavis on defense. the offensive game has passed you, and it's so obvious to everyone but you. too stubborn to change though. i love you as an lsu representative, game manager and recruiter, but NOT as an offensive mastermind.
"RIGHT". The other team gets the ball, and your worn out defense comes back onto the field without a rest. Same as a turnover.I agree you want to play more conservatively when you're backed up against your goal line, but when you've got some breathing room you need to loosen up a bit. Three and outs lost us the BCSNCG and it lost us the game Saturday nite. Rule book definitions are for officials. You stick to your definition. I'll stick to mine.
You Have to give Mett more than one option on that play.....slip the tight end out also....something. We all know rolling out is not mett's strong point.
