How'd you put it .... I'd take you seriously if you made any indication that you weren't an idiot. ... but alas... you haven't ... so I won't.
Mett's biggest problem has been that no one can hang onto the darts he throws. Okay, besides getting lit up and fumbling. Somehow they managed to hang onto them at the JC level. I don't know how to explain that, but it allowed them to play possession football. Third and three, he'd hit a receiver on a five yard out pattern for another first down. Only the receiver had a shot at it. When the defensive backs would double down on the possession passes, one of his short, stocky running backs would bust one up the middle for twenty yards. Google Mettenberger at Butler.
You've got nothing. As described by your post. Freshman O'line don't just , step up. There is a reason 95% of all top SEC O'lines will be made of veterans.
Again, no one really knows for certain whats going on behind closed doors, so this is all speculation. But lets look at the facts, there was all the talk of Shepard, T-Bob, and others went to CLM and asked for Lee to play. May or may not be true, but maybe some truth. Now lets look at RR leaving early, Shepard wanting to leave, and Boone considering a transfer. Lets look at the pathetic play calling this year. The regression of OBJ who appeared to be ready for a breakout season. Look at all the drops. Look at how poor the OL is blocking. Mett is regressing as well. It certainly appears that there is something going on inside the LSU locker room.
At the spring game I sat next to the mother of one of the walk on WR's (hasn't taken the field this year). We were talking about Mett's throws and how she said her son was telling her that he had never had to catch a pass like the ones he was getting from Mett. They were stinging the players hands etc. Having spoke with 2 receivers from Arkansas who caught passes from Ryan Mallett who also had problems with dropped balls, it might be the same issue. Some players just can't catch those hard of passes, and Mett has some real speed on his passes. I actually expect us to do a big better now that the pressure valve has released. We were supposed to be undefeated etc etc, now people are expecting us to get blown out in games. Instead of being worried about failing, the team can be motivated to prove people wrong.
I do recall this; however, I also recall (and perhaps I'm mistaken) that when JJ was eligible to return, some of the team wanted JJ to get playing time. Were there JL and JJ factions on the team?? Not to bring all of this up again... But with both players gone, why would it be an issue now?
