While there are definitely "gun nuts" out there IMO most of those on the side of the 2nd amendment are not so much upset that they cannot own a tank or nuke.....it is that there is NO limitation set in the constitution on the 2nd amendment. It does not say the right to keep and bear arms except for anything. So any laws put into place now that limit the second amendment in any way are in direct violation to the constitution as it is currently written and if they can limit one amendment then they can use that as a precedent to start limiting any of them. Again just my opinion.

The line is already defined. It's illegal to own fully automatic firearms but semi-auto are legal. There is no such thing as an "assault weapon" unless you consider all weapons to be assault weapons. You can assault somebody with a BB gun, a knife or a stick. If I sharpen a stick and put a cosmetic military looking handle on it somebody will cry about be have an "assault stick.'

We have all the gun laws we need. What we need is a better way to identify the wackos and nutjobs. Gun legislation won't do that.
But how do we identify the mentality of would-be mass shooters? Not sure if there is a way.

He was sitting up there for more than an hour,
Way up there on the Texas Tower
Shooting from the twenty-seventh floor. Yahoo!
He didn't choke or slash or slit them,
    Not our Charles Joseph Whitman,
He won't be an architect no more.
Got up that morning calm and cool,
He picked up his guns and walked to school.
All the while he smiled so sweetly
And it blew their minds completely,
They'd never seen an Eagle Scout so cruel.

The doctors tore his poor brain down
But not a snitch of illness could be found
Most folks couldn't figure just-a why he did it
And them that could would not admit it
There's still a lot of Eagle Scouts around

There was a rumor about a tumor
Nestled at the base of his brain
He was sitting up there with his .36 Magnum
Laughing wildly as he bagged 'em

Who are we to say the boy's in?
Who are we to say the boy's in?
Who are we to say the boy's insane?

Have you not been listening, Einstein? This is what I've been saying from the beginning. The system we need is a better way to prevent wackos and nutjobs from getting weapons, not prohibiting law abiding citizens from exercising their 2nd amendment right. In order to do that we need a comprehensive, national data base so that those "wackos and nutjobs" cannot go two states over and purchase a weapon. I haven't said one thing about controlling guns other than we need to decide what is enough for a private citizen.

I think the government already has way too much information on all of us in their databases.

That's the thing, the NRA has gotten people convinced that the government is coming for their guns that we can't even have a conversation about what will keep guns out of the hands of killers. The freak out about Obama's executive orders, or pretty much non-orders, is a prime example. Absolutely no harm could come from them but people still screamed from the rooftops as if government agents would start confiscating guns the next week.

If you don't see anything wrong with Obamahammed's executive orders on gun control and on everything else there is no hope for you. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Barackmed didn't secretly own a lot of stock in gun manufacturers companies. Issue an order and his stock goes up when people buy more guns.

When it happened I asked for one example of how the law would prevent a law abiding citizen from owning a gun in any way. Not a single person came up with a logical response.

You still haven't answered Mobius' question: how does the executive order prevent law abiding citizens from owning a gun in any way? Come on, if you are so damn knowledgeable about this subject you should be able to quote this stuff chapter and verse.

So you are OK with the use of executive orders to circumvent the will of Congress ans the people. Obama's last order was to close the "gun show loophole." There was no gun show loophole. Licensed firearms dealers already had to do background checks on purchases at gun shows.

The gun grabbers know they will never achieve their agenda all at once so their strategy is to erode the second amendment little by little.
