And to think, the Green Wave might have been able to hold on to the guy for at least a couple of years - my wouldn't that have been interesting.

Guess coaching at your alma mater doesn't always end up like one would hope (hint hint to any coach who may want to do so one day)...I don't dislike the guy really...I mean, he prob. agreed to go to Alabama before actually visiting, then had to figure a way out and fast...But I will say, nothing had me doing a jig and jumping from couch to couch, more than that game vs Pitt...the look on his face, when they just could NOT, convert.... on 3rd down, then 4th down, then they got to repeat it and STILL couldn't do it and the clocks just ticking on down..... man oh man....it was priceless....and thats just nothing but poor sportsmanship on my part, and I enjoyed every dirty minute!!

Updated 6:10 p.m. West Virginia football coach Rich Rodriguez has apparently met with Michigan University officials about their vacancy and returned to Morgantown. The coach, however, isn't talking. Rodriguez declined comment to the Associated Press on a report that he was meeting with UM officials. The coach said little upon arriving at the Morgantown airport on a flight from Toledo, Ohio, where the meeting was said to have taken place. "Going to practice. I'm going to practice,'' he said Friday evening before getting into his car. Sporting News Radio correspondent Michael Bradley earlier reported that the two sides were meeting. According to the report, Rodriguez and his agent were in Toledo today to negotiate with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and university president Mary Sue Coleman. Michigan has been looking for a head coach since Lloyd Carr announced his retirement Nov. 19 after 13 seasons leading the program. "I don't know anything about it," WVU athletic director Ed Pastilong told the Gazette. "The only person who can clarify that is Rich Rodriguez. "We recently put a strong contract in place with Rich. We made a strong commitment to him and he made a strong commitment to us." Later, Pastilong said he put in a call to Rodriguez but that had not been returned as of 5 p.m. He would not comment on whether Michigan had asked for permission to negotiate with Rodriguez. "We put a policy in place that said we won't comment on whether we've been contacted or not," said the AD. "But as I've said we're strongly committed to Rich and he's strongly committed to us." Rodriguez has not returned calls.

It's all lies. Everyone knows Miles is going to be the next Michigan coach. If anything. RR was flown to Ann Arbor just to talk about how Miles will leave LSU after the NCG.

You are correct! It is all lies. Saban will be the next coach at Mich! (as long as the lies continue, why can't I join in!?)

There seems to be decidedly mixed feelings among UM fans regarding the RR possible hire. Some are very excited that SOMETHING is happening with a coach who has had some success on a BCS level. RR is young and considered an up-and-comer with an exciting offense, something Michigan really needs.

On the other hand (and I think this is really the smarter group), there are those who don't like what's happening (if it IS really happening). They think RR made an ass of himself in the press conference following the Pitt game (they're right), they think the game itself was a travesty (they're right), they think he recruits criminals like Pac Man Jones (they're right), and especially they're mad that UM will have to pay $4 million to buy out his contract with WVU but UM was nickeling and diming when talking to/at/about LM (right once more.)

If they get RR, they're going to look stupid because they certainly didn't get a Michigan man--they really got a Larry Coker/Dennis Franchione or maybe a Nick Saban type--and they really treated a true Michigan man like dirt. Nice going Bill Martin.
