LSU currently sitting with 22 recruits.

There are rumblings about Davante Bourque may not be part of this class. So keep that in mind in respect to the cap at 25. Also rumblings about Trey Granier and his injury but nothing solid on this front. My guess is we keep the commitment, although it could likely be in the form of a greyshirt.

Here are the most likely recruits LSU will finish up with along with my projections:

99 % Lorenzo Phillips - LB (4*) Patterson, LA [LSU] Announcing Last Week of January
90 % Jeremy Hill - RB (4*) Baton Rouge, LA [LSU] Committed last year
65 % Landon Collins - Safety (5*) Geismar, LA [LSU, Alabama] Announcing at Under Armour All-Star Game
40 % Tracy Howard - Cornerback (5*) Miramar, FL [LSU, Florida, Florida State] Announcing on NSD
15 % Mario Edwards - DE (5*) Denton, TX [LSU, Texas, Florida State]
10 % Kwon Alexander - LB (4*) Oxford, AL [LSU, Auburn, Alabama]
5 % Anthony Alford - Dual Threat QB (4*) Petal, MS [LSU, Ole Miss]
5 % Channing Ward - DE (4*) Aberdeen, MS [LSU, Ole Miss, Miss State, Auburn, Alabama] Announcing at the Under Armour All-Star Game

    Notes:

    Landon Collins:
Seems like the Joe McKnight saga all over again, hopefully with a different outcome. Announcing at the All-Star game.

    Tracy Howard:
"If LSU blows me out of the water I'm going to commit before Signing Day" most likely
    Visiting LSU on 01/20/2012

    Mario Edwards:
    Visiting LSU on 01/20/2012

    Lorenzo Phillips:
    Visiting LSU on 01/20/2012

    Kwon Alexander:
Possible greyshirt, will be coming off an ACL injury. LSU would still take him at this point.

    Jeremy Hill:
Has the biggest impact on Davante Bourque de-committing, so this is essentially a swap of 4* RBs (potentially)

So assuming Bourque is gone, we can take 4 more guys. Phillips and Hill seem like locks, then there's Howard, Collins, Alexander and Edwards. I think we've got a decent shot at all of them although Edwards is probably more of a pipe dream. If we got the other three, that puts us one over. I guess Alexander greyshirts in that scenario. If we do get all 4, then we have some figuring to do. But that would be a great problem to have. Alford seems very slim at this point and so does Channing Ward imo.

Recruiting is a strange thing. I think the kids love to believe the coaches are holding a spot for them, which may be true in some cases, but once the spots are gone, they are gone. Ultimately the coaches need to fill the class. Some of these kids better get off the potty or they may find no room left for them in this great LSU class of 2012. IF I knew LSU had 4 spots left and I was one of 8 players being recruited to fill those 4 spots....... you better bet I would put in a call to the coaches right away.

I think the biggest get would be Edwards. Having him as our next great pass rusher would be big. We always produce some nasty dlinemen and having him on a line that includes Freak Brockers montogomery mingo downs etc would cause even more hell. Freak and Edwards would be an amazing inside outside punch

:geaux: Add Benny Logan in as well. He's been a pleasant surprise as well as a beast all season. And don't forget Ego Ferguson & Jamauria Rasco. Both have played this year and did well when they got the opportunity. The depth on this team is sick! :hihi: Edwards could be our next Sam Montgomery. :thumb: :LSU231:
