Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC Shoot, dey got all the 5* QB's money could buy.
Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC Or he is suggesting that the system is rigged and the best team was left out in the cold. If he really wanted to make an argument against USC, he should have just gone looking for the best team they beat this year. While not an overt endorsement of USC as champions there is plenty of room for such an inference, despite his final conclusion. At the very least, the legitimacy of the upcoming championship game is being questioned.
Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC You can add this thread to the "Top 10 things that don't mean a damn thing"... :geaux:
Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC Look at this crap! (Link Below) Trojans look like nation's best with no one left to play By Mark Schlabach ESPN.com The No. 7 Trojans are better than both No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 LSU, which will play for the BCS championship Monday night in the Louisiana Superdome. The Buckeyes couldn't even beat No. 13 Illinois, which was so clearly overmatched by USC. It's a shame the Trojans can't play the winner of the BCS title game in two weeks. LINK
Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC I am sick of hearing about this whole thing. The bottom line is this: LSU will play tOSU for the BCS National Championship on Monday Jan 7th. The BCS NC is what ALL THE MAJOR CONFERENCES recognize as its NC. It's a process that the 6 major conferences have agreed to. Period. You can't split it. We're not playing for the AP National Championship, or the McDonald's, Wendy's, the.dot.com NC or The Sports Illustrated NC, or any of those irrelevant NC awards. We win and the :crystal: goes to Baton Rouge. :crystal: :geaux: :crystal: :geaux: :crystal:
Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC Um... SC does schedule tough programs for its out of conference opponents, but it just happened to be a bad year for Nebraska. Keep in mind that Nebraska actually looked good early in the season before playing SC. And, that it wasn't the same Nebraska team that finished the season, where that team basically quit on the coach. You've got to schedule these games so far in advance that you have no idea how good the opponent will be in that particular year unless you're OSU and you schedule pasties like Kent State.
Don't forget our Tigers. Since Les Miles took over as head coach, here's our record compared to other top programs. Ohio State 33-4 (1 to go) USC 34-5 W. Virginia 32-5 (1 to go) LSU 33-6 (1 to go) Texas 33-6 Boise State 32-7 Va Tech 32-7 (1 to go) Florida 31-8 Wisconsin 31-8 TCU 30-8 Oklahoma 30-9 (1 to go) Georgia 30-9 B.College 30-9 Auburn 29-9 Penn State 29-9 BYU 28-10 Louisville 27-10 Hawaii 28-11 Michigan 27-11 Missouri 27-12 Texas Tech 26-12 Oregon 26-12 Rutgers 25-12 (1 to go) Kansas 24-12 (1 to go) Tulsa 26-13 (1 to go) Five of LSU's six losses came to bowl opponents: Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida (NC), Auburn, Georgia. The other loss was in OT against Tennessee. Four of USC's losses were to bowl opponents: Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, and Texas (NC). Judging from the level of competition, LSU can easily make the argument that they have played as well as anyone during the last three years. If we do go back five years, LSU will still be near the top. In addition to dealing with the continuous distractions during Saban's final year, no team in the nation had to deal with the two major hurricanes impacting many of the player's families and friends. All in all, it's hard to think that any team could have done more than the Tigers have accomplished in the last 3-5 years. You would never know it from the national media simply because we don't have the population (which equates to viewership and $$$) to attract the attention. I just can't imagine why Pete Carroll hasn't been fired. If you listen to ESPN, they have the best of everything so I don't understand why they haven't won every game this decade. :hihi: All I know, is we've had nine different champions during the last nine years and somebody not named USC is about to be the first with two crystal footballs. :crystal: :crystal: I hope it's us but only time will tell. BCS: SEC (3), Big 12 (2), Big 10 (1), Pac 10 (1), ACC (1), Big East (1) The #2 seed has won four of the last fives games. Let's hope that continues next Monday. :tigereye:
Just to add to the previous post (which was a good one). Two of Ohio States 4 losses came to the national champion that year. One of Ohio States losses came to the BCS #3 team that year (Penn State in 2005). The other loss was Illinois which was freaking inexcusable and I promise you, they'll work on getting that fixed real quick.
Holtz was just talking about that the AP should vote either UGh-A or USC as #1 and then proceeded to call the ESPN anchor, which was a woman, then she replied to him "Ma'am". Funny sh*t!!!
