Re: Here we go again...USC trying to claim a stake as NC

At no point in the article he's making a case for USC...I even had to quote the guy on my signature, cause he makes the best point of them all.

How much of these articles do some of you actually read? USC is NOT staking a claim to the NC. The article used a catchy title to draw readers in, used a few quotes from players and even PC who would only say this:

"Would we love to still be playing right now? Sure would," Carroll said. "We'd go out there any time, any place, any venue and throw our football out there and see what we could do.

"Let the argument go on out there for the people who are battling the BCS process to try and figure it out. I don't know, and I have no answers for them. I just wish we could keep playing. And I know these guys do, too."

Not exactly claiming anything is he? And I guess one of the last lines of the article escaped attention too:

It doesn't offset the Trojans' Cardinal sin. National champions do not lose to 41-point underdogs. At home. Against a backup quarterback making his first start.

Not sure Pat was ever the standard for anything other than heart and playing like he was a big guy. He was also a Rhodes Scholar. He won some big games and was one heck of a competitor. One of his WR's, JK McKay once said that when Pat threw the ball, he was so short, they could never tell if it was a throw or if his dad had decided to punt.

John McKay said of recruiting his son JK to come to USC, that he had an advantage over other schools since he was sleeping with the kid's mother. :hihi:

Agreed. I think it is unanimous we are rejecting the logic/intent of the writer rather that of the article. More to follow I am sure.

Stupid article. Completely ignores the fact that USC played a weak schedule (while still ragging on Ohio State's). Yesterday's win didn't tell us anything we didn't already know - USC is a good team with one acceptable loss and one really bad loss, who didn't beat enough good teams to overcome it.

    This line is my favorite:

Just seven weeks? That's like a month and a half. That's more than half a season. Makes me wonder if the author is actually making a serious argument.

Perhaps it's just a matter of some posters making the same New Year's resolution that I have.

"I resolve to be more delirious in 2008"

He wasn't making an argument for USC at all...he was laying out the talking points everyone else is sure to trot out- then shooting it all down at the end.

I don't recall Petey having any problem with the process when he got his crystal football.
