Re: Winner of LSU vs. OSU needs to be impressive

The AP has us #2 also. Which is what's confusing to me. What exactly has USC done between now and then besides beat Illinois. And LSU\OSU haven't even had a chance to play yet. It will never go away. It's best not to let it get to you.

Sorry but no. Booty played until the 3rd quarter with a broken finger which resulted in 3 INT's, first time he EVER did that. He is 20-3 as a starter. PC has already said the loss was on him for leaving Booty in for so long. Between that and 3 to 4 deep on the Oline due to injuries, you have a loss to Furd. Sanchez had nothing to do with it.

I still say that Georgia will open as #1 next season. However to call Mark Sanchez a very poor QB is just crazy talk. He nearly led USC to a win on the road against Oregon who had a healthy Dixon at the time. Same Oregon who without Dixon, still pasted South Florida in a Bowl game. Sanchez vs Mustain in Spring ball will be a great story.

Well somebody has to get it and I just can't see it being LSU. You have last year's loss to avenge afterall..............Lou is comin' your way, cover up.

OTOH, he gave one to Illinois and they didn't listen to ol Lou. See what happens? :yelwink2:

Funny, but I don't remember the media making a split NC case for LSU after destroying ND this time last year before the NC game. :rolleye33:

Re: USC Deserves AP Title (per Yahoo Sports)

IMO, Illinois seemed to have success when they attacked "downhill" (as i saw someone else mention earlier). They did much much more of this in Columbus, and I think you really have to question the playcalling of Zook. Even on 4th and 12? If the Illini had gone so horizontal against the buckeyes, we would have rolled them (realizing Boeckman threw 3 painful INT's). Sometimes coaches get it in their heads that something will work, and will keep going back to it, even when it has no hope of success.

I don't think this is one of the "great" USC teams, as Booty, imo, isn't on the same totem pole as Palmer or Leinert... at least this year..., but beating USC in LA has proven to be a tall task (with few exceptions) for even the best of opponents, let alone a young Illinois team who had little business being there.
