Well I can tell you that the media thing is working its magic already as I am in Houston and I have already heard it from numerous people today at work and in general chatting that many think USC should be co-national champions.

Most don't care about Georgia because they feel they didn't even make it to the SEC Title game.

But I'll be damned if I ain't hearing about USC being co-champion regardless of who wins our game.

Face it unless LSU blows Ohio State out of the dome by huge margin there will be many people and the possibility that a split championship should occur. Some of the people I work with don't care if we blow them out of the water they still will consider USC as co-champions. These are people that don't have any affiliation with USC they simply watched the game and have read all the hype.

    Sickening

Re: Winner of LSU vs. OSU needs to be impressive

Whoever wins needs to win by at least one point. Then they will carry home the crystal ball and be champions of the BCS. First team ever to do it twice. USC will always get hyped. Deal with it.

LSU jumped Georgia in the polls. Ohio State was never below them. You can look it up on ESPN under college football rankings if you don't believe it.

with the crappy way the BCS paired teams this year, the only team that couldve caused a split championship was Hawaii.

True... and Ohio State was never "behind" Georgia in the weekly BCS standings either.

I'm not a big fan of that kind of behavior in general. However, the player who did it gets a pass (from me anyway) this one time. Dez Reed is about as far away from Hollywood/showman type of person as you can get. Two years ago in the pathetically tall grass at South Bend, Dez destroyed his knee and ankle ligaments. At one point, doctors didn't think he'd even walk normally (without a brace) much less ever play football again. For months, he couldn't even hold his foot up, it just dropped forward. He spent months rehabing and working hard to get back on the field in any way. Despite not contributing a whole lot, it's pretty miraculous that he's playing again.

He's an emotional leader on the team and a fan favorite because of the ND incident. Last night's flip was a way of celebrating his recovery, his last game, his last TD, and the fans. I can live with it.

Re: Winner of LSU vs. OSU needs to be impressive

My thoughts exactly. Of course USCw and UGA were going to look good, they played lesser calibur teams. All of the "experts" predicted that both would win easily. Why do they act so impressed???

The Rose Bowl wants its PAC 10/ Big 10 match-up every year, and those idiots in the Orange should have taken Mizzou instead of Kansas.

OU and Va Tech will probably win easily as well.

The BCS bowls should have done this:

    Rose Bowl: USCw vs Georgia
Orange Bowl: OU vs Va Tech
    Fiesta Bowl: WV vs Mizzou
Sugar Bowl: Hawaii vs Illinois, or Kansas or Florida (some combo of those 4 teams and forget the "only 2 teams from one conference balony)
    BCSNCG: tOSU vs LSU

I'm no expert at this stuff, but I don't think its real hard to look at these 10 teams and figure who needs to play who.

And finally, to reassure us all of who "deserves" to play in the BCS NCG, we can go back and look at the final BCS standings and see that the COACHES voted us #2, the computers had us #2, and the Harris Poll had us #2.

What happens on Jan 7th is all that's important.

Re: Winner of LSU vs. OSU needs to be impressive

we all know the bias with USC and ESPN. They did the same thing last year when USC beat Michigan and put them preseason #1. Well you see how their season turned out. No matter if we loss 2 games, we didnt lose to Stanford. Both of the teams we lost to made bowl games. However, USC lovers and ESPN will jump right over that fact that they lost to Stanford with a backup QB. Pathetic, but put them preseason number 1 again with a very poor QB situation and if anyone says any different Sanchez didnt impress at all.
