Re: USC Deserves AP Title (per Yahoo Sports) This is by far the worst year for the BCS committee with all the flack coming down from fans. In 04 you had the Auburn undefeated season to deal with, but now you're looking at 5 or 6 teams claiming a national title. This has got to end. We will at a minimum have a plus 1 system starting in 2011. The BCS committee is actually more than likely going to announce changes for 2011 and beyond at some point this year. Should be interesting. Even with a plus 1 system, you leave out great teams like USC and Georgia this year. I'm sure Missouri is saying "what about us?" Kansas will do the same if they win and have only 1 loss. The 4 teams in a plus 1 system would be OSU, LSU, VTech and OU. Looks like we need an 8 team playoff. I think most of us could live with that. The 8 teams would have added Kansas, Mizzou, USC and Georgia to the mix.

:huh: I don't believe I've ever seen any team continue to make the NCG year in and year out. However, since 2003, we've been to the big dance 2 times, won an Orange Bowl and 2 Rose Bowls and haven't finished out of the top 5. USC is now the first team in college football history to go 6 consecutive years with at least 11 wins a year. The class that played last night has gone 59-6, the winningest in Trojan football history. All those things combined make for a pretty strong argument. I do believe that while it has been slow to come, CLM is getting the respect he deserves and will continue to. It's a double edged sword. You get a national audience, people watch, and when you either lose late (Arkansas) or lose to the likes of Kentucky, criticism is quick and harsh. You think anyone will EVER let USC forget about Stanford? :nope: Lastly, CLM certainly has proven to be a great soundbite but it's within his ability to work the media to focus on what he has done and not what he can say.

For argument's sake, if Sugar had said yes, who do you think would have been playing Hawaii last night? There is no team around who would have filled the stadium, travelled as well, spent money in the city, as well as Georgia. The RB Committee should have picked up the phone to ask but the writing was on the wall so they went with tradition, much to the dismay of nearly ALL college football fans, except the Illini. On a side note, the Illini fans were terrific. Way more showed up than I expected and considering the ass whuppin, I was impressed with how many stayed for the entire game.
Granny endorsing a split National Championship Not sure if anyone heard him on Mike and Mike this morning, but Holtz was endorsing a split NC. He basically said that coaches are obligated to vote for winner of the BCS title game as champ, but not in the AP. He said he 'hoped' to see USC or Oklahoma (if they win) voted NC in the AP. This is the same ass clown that tried (and failed) to vote USC as BCS champ when we won it in '04. As if that weren't enough, he didn't even have LSU or OSU in his top 4. :dis: :rolleye33: Whatever, spittle boy. I know he has zero credibilty and at this point, we should know what to expect from him when it comes to us, but his comments still piss me off. Anyone know what we did to him to make him hate us so much? I used to believe it was because we always beat his USCe teams by at least 30pts, but then realized everyone used to do that, so that can't be it.

Yes, Ohio State had lots of trouble with Illinois' spread offense, but beating a one dimensional Illini team is really not something to base an National Title argument over.
