Actually, they have had a nuclear program for in excess of 20 years, but that is besides the point. Should we let Pandora's box open by letting Iran get nukes with impunity?

What could make you so naive that you would actually believe some sort of incentives or carrots would work? Carrots will never work in a million years and anyway we are all carrotted out as the Iranians simply take our carrots, laughs at the naive kafirs, and then takes some more. In addition, why can't we stop them? We more than have the power but maybe we lack the will to use it. Buddy you better hope us or Israel or both stops Iran because if Iran gets the Islamic bomb they will use it. Not only that, but nuclear weapons will also proliferate throughout the Islamic world, and I hate to rain on your parade but most Muslims are not so-called moderates. Uhm...Iran could give a **** about nuclear power as it is sitting on the second biggest known oil reserves in the world and flares off natural gas every day. What Iran wants is the Islamic bomb in order to pursue jihad. How can we deter them if we don't have the will to act? Nevertheless, we better find the will and fast! And a robust missile shield will never protect us or our allies from Muslim terrorists looking for martyrdom and a one way ticket to Allah's version of carnal paradise?
There is no viable reason why a state that wants to acquire nuclear weapons technology should not be able to acquire it. Not in a legal sense, anyway. And Iran pursuing nuclear jihad? I doubt this highly. This would be suicidal and I know some people commit suicide but the intances of nation-states committing suicide are pretty damn rare, as far as I can tell. Iran wants nuclear weapons to deter Israel and US designs on toppling the current regime. I don't blame them, either. If I were in their shoes I would want nuclear weapons as well. For all the bad things one can say about nuclear weapons you have to admit, it is an effective deterrent.
While you are down on your knees apologising why don't you kiss a few ayatolhas asses. We might not be able to prevent the developement of nuclear weapons by rogue states forever but we have the power to delay it by bombing their inuclear facilities the way Israeal did to Iraq few years ago. Phuck international legalities! It is in the best interests of the USA and all Americans that nuclear technology does no proliferate in the Middle East. Are you sure you are really an American?
