You must really not understand what an earmark is, a marking. Nothing more nothing less. Without marking the money it just goes back to the executive branch to spend on whatever the F it wants.
Get away with what? Section 3 of DOMA—the part that defines marriage for federal purposes as the union of a man and a woman—was ruled unconstitutional by a federal district court judge in July 2010.
No. I understand exactly what an earmark is. I said that Paul's position that they do not increase spending is false. I also said that if he were truly worried about what the administration was going to do with unmarked funds he could ear mark it to pay down the national debt, or he SS trust fund, or any number of fiscally responsible things. Instead he thinks our money should be used to prop up the Texas shrimping industry.
FED- The value of the dollar has gone down like 90% since the FED came into existence. That's a pretty bad record. They also admit to having caused or at the very least exacerbated the Great Depression. Andrew Jackson was against having a central bank. There were two central banks in the US that came into existence and then were eliminated by Congress and the US was still standing. Foreign policy- Our foreign policy has been a disaster. I can't believe you can defend the direction of our foreign policy as we are currently involved in the longest war in US history in Afghanistan (just think about that....Afghanistan.....it's a ****hole) and have installed a puppet regime in Iraqi that will require US military presence for decades to come.....all while the Middle East is in turmoil, overthrowing "our dictators" in the name of some quasi-democratic movement that will almost certainly result in more radical/anti-American governments in the future. Yeah....nice job over the last decade....real nice job. Do you remember when gas was like $1 a gallon? I think it was back in the 90's. It's going to hit $5 a gallon soon.....and supposedly we are over there secure our access to oil. We should stop pissing in the Arab's face year after year. It's bad business. Letters of marquee- never heard of it Gold standard- Well, you are going to be disappointed in the very near future. At some point in the next 5-10 years there is going to be a return to some kind of reserve currency based on/linked to commodities....the dollar is toast; Bernanke has seen to that. I saw some jackass, former FOMC member on CNBC saying that if the price of oil continues to rise further......that would be "deflationary" rather than "inflationary" and would require further FED action (create money out of thin air to buy the bonds no one else will buy).........that guy Santelli had a look on his face like he just shat in his pants. He could not even keep looking into the camera. (My translation of Santelli's body language: with that level of misunderstanding.....we are doomed.)
The DOMA is still on the books, isn't it? I thought the job of the executive branch was to enforce existing laws.....all of them, not just the ones you think are peachy.
I agree with you about that...technically Paul is correct but it does seem a little hypocritical. On the other hand....if you lived in his district, I guess you could say he was looking out for your interest....which he is supposed to do.
i voted for paul in the republican primary once. i wouldnt do it again, he is just too associated with people like flabengal. i think supafan may be right about him. and that sucks because he says some decent things.
Pay attention. The law was ruled unconstitutional. The justice department has no business enforcing laws that did not stand up in court.
