For those who watched on CBS or didn't have a great view in Tiger Stadium, Ron Brooks looked like he was having the time of his life out there yesterday. Every time he came in on kickoff coverage, he was beyond fired up. He'd go all along the north end zone doing everything he could to get the student section riled up. After the game, when most of the team had already gone to the locker room, he hung out with the students at the bottom of the section near the ground to high-5 and celebrate. So happy to see him make some plays out there.
That is awesome. Another great LSU kid who never got to start even thought he was talented enough to start on most teams. Yet you never heard a single word from him about it. Never. I'm glad he got the spotlight to shine on him yesterday. It was perfect.
Look at the stats, this was his best game as a Tiger. This was only his second game to start since hes been at LSU, having started the WV game, this year. Last night he had 4 Tackles, 1 QB Hurry, 1 Pass broken up (Saving a TD), 1 Forced Fumble, .5 TFL and 1 Int for 28 yds. and the TD. Not a bad nights work. Hes one of those that could have transfered, but stayed around, he has a chance to get into the Pros. Best of luck to him. :tigereye:
I agree. Hard worker and a team-player. Just goes out and does his job and carries himself in a professional manner. Kinda like Courtney Roby on ST. A really good gunner and a decent return man. He could play nickelback in certain situations as well. Kinda like Patrick Robinson did last year for the Saints. I'm pulling for him and look forward to seeing him get his opportunity in the NFL.
Glad you posted. CBS showed some of his intensity but a lot gets lost with all of the announcer voice-over. Brooks is feeding off the noise and power of the DV experience. Yesterday was a break out moment for him; he is having the time of his life and will be telling his grandkids about it all one day... Brooks? "Houston, we have lift-off!"
and he followed that "fired-up-ness" with some kick ass. he played a whale of a game, as well as a lot of others. and the best i've seen our kickoff team, probably ever.
Brooks hasn't gotten a lot of starts, but he's played in a lot of games. We're loaded with redshirt freshmen and sophomores this year. It's nice to have seniors with experience available as well.
When the suspensions came down this week, we were hoping that those who would start in place of the suspended stars would also shine. They passed that test with an A+. This is an incredibly special team, and I'm loving every second of this season.
