That's what I was getting at. If he's talking it up with La boys, then he commits, it looks good for the other ones to commit. In fact, Davis committed during the game, did he not?
The last article I read on it was much more somber as to the prognosis. http://www.wwltv.com/medical/stories/wwl112206jbmedical.16015de3.html
"A career ending injury even at the NFL level" - I take that to be more general than specific to Delvin. Most of the time, when someone breaks their neck it is a career ending injury, that doesn't mean it is in this case. Scout has written an article or two in which Delvin has discussed this. Both he & his father understand the Dr's recommendation, but Delvin wants to & will be able to play.
I think he may have originally been told that he would play wide receiver, but with LSU having so much good fortune recruiting WRs this year with Terrance Toliver yet to go, I think you are right. He will very likely play cornerback. So far we have recruited only one CB. This is really great news.
Does anyone know if he played CB in high school? If so, how good of a CB is he? I believe he played QB in this season and was a WR as a junior. How were his stats in the Army game--did he look good?
With a spinal fracture, even with complete "healing", the spine mechanics will be altered and therefore stress is abnormally redistributed to other neighboring elements of the spine, with or without structural weakening. God forbid, if he has pre-existing spinal narrowing, it adds an additional risk to spinal cord injury with any future trauma, and therefore risk of paralysis. To keep it short, it is not a good idea to participate in any contact sport like football. Philosophical question: is it worth it?
http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/5171362.html <EM>“I’d really like to play wide receiver,” said Brooks, who took part in Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl. “But if they put me on defense that wouldn’t be a problem.”
does LSU still have the Satan/Spears rule? play your first year where you want then the coaches move you to the best spot after that year.
