McGrady would be crazy to leave and go to the pistons now this shows how committed the team is to him and to building a better team around him and winning now.
I would've rather seen the Hornets trade their 1st round pick and a player for Artest than trading their 1st round pick for money. I knew you would be happy Clair.

He said himself he wouldnt mind going their, but i dont think its crazy to go to a team that has won a championship this decade and has been in the final 4 NBA teams the last 6 seasons. I wouldnt call that crazy.

You can say Artest is a great pickup, but you dont know which Artest you are getting, the risk is higher than the reward imo. Unless Artest is taking his medication, you never know what you might get.

But the thing is if the trade would happen he wouldnt be going to the same team that has been going deep in the playoffs because in the proposed deal it would be some combination of PG Chauncey Billups, SG Richard Hamilton, SF Tayshaun Prince, and PF Rasheed Wallace could be had in exchange for McGrady. So at least two of the key players and would be gone.

Agree on the Artest unpredictability but Im taking the risk this time.

Not at all, it would be Billups and a bench player and a second round pick. The salaries have to match, if Detroit where to give up 2 starters, the Rockets would have to give up 2 starters for the salaries to match. Billups is expendable right now with Rodney Stuckey coming on strong.

I dont think Houston would take a deal like that for McGrady but on some websites and articles when the first rumors came out it was Richard H. and Rasheed the Rockets wanted but Pistons wanted to give up Billups instead for the reason you mentioned.

just saying look at the dynamics of the trade and who will play what position.

Their are some ongoing talks with the Rockets.

McGrady on the trade: "This is the best news of my life in the NBA."

I think a Detroit deal died with this deal being made.

It will be hard enough for the Rockets to build chemistry with Artest onboard. Would be even harder if you trade McGrady for 2-3 other rotation players.

You don't break apart a 55-win team. You add to it. :)

Already started but it was Yao who threw the 1st punch.

Yao needs to actually play in the playoffs before running his mouth.

It's bad enough the team is already better without him.
