He was talking about the recent behavior of fans throwing "items" at Gordon after his victory, and NASCAR's reaction to it. Apparently NASCAR arrested all the perps, and gave them a lifetime ban at Talladega. Rome's quote to the perps: I know he is obnoxious but some people can really sum things up well, and I think he did in this situation
I agree but hey thats NASCAR!!! You get that many rednecks together in Earnhart counrty and have Gordon win...well trouble will start! Not defending them but just stating the facts!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretend I know nothing about NASCAR outside of "Days of Thunder." (I don't). Now tell me why Jeff Gordon isn't popular.
This is true but a lot of credit has been given to him and other "YOUNG GUNS" for making NASCAR more main stream which in turn generates more $. But basically you either love him or hate him! Me: hate
Is there any resentment towards Dale Earnhart Jr.? He grew up super rich, probably did not have to pay any dues and is in the most mainstream advertisements even though he's not the best driver out there. I am making an earnest attempt to understand NASCAR fans and the appeal of rabidly cheering cars driving in circles for hours. How do you go about picking a favorite driver? Do you automatically hate every other driver? Your driver retires/dies, do you have to go back to the drawing board? Can you root for more than one guy?
