The last 4 holdovers from the Super Bowl starting defense.....happy trails and thanks to Smith, Vilma and Harper. Hopefully they can bring back Greer, who still has some tread left on the tires.

I just told a co-worker the same thing. I said that of those 4, I'd like to see us hold on to Greer. He's still got some gas in the tank and he could add depth to the position.

Thanks for memories guys. I've got nothing bad to say about any of them as Saints. I hope that each of them might stay around the team in some capacity if they choose to. Each was a leader in some respect and I wish them the best.

How much cap space does that clear up?

ESPN says they will save $19.2 million, and were $13-15 million over the cap before the cuts. Nola.com says they were only $12 million over.

So just by releasing them the team is now 4-7 million under the cap. Fantastic. It's a start. I don't see any way around franchising Graham unless he decides that playing with Brees made and will keep him a superstar and on another team he might just be a talented TE. I can't blame a player if they get much better money somewhere else. The team should pay him if at all possible.

Need to go after a pass rushing 3-4 LB, a reliable corner, and maybe a run stuffer at nose tackle. I've been very happy with Jordan and Gallette in the 3-4. They worked out better than I imagined they would have. Hicks was no slouch either. LB is very weak, corner and FS need help too. Armstead impressed me at tackle simply by not holding having a false start, or giving up a sack once very series like his predecessors. He might be a keeper.

good stuff. makes you wonder whether they truly plan to re-sign Greer. i think he's got a bit more in the tank, personally.
